How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The level of research and resource that went into this kit was pretty impressive - not sure how easy it would be to reproduce local stories in the same way - particularly having the website as a safe place our ākonga could got to explore. How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Total rave!!! Well done - appreciate the work that went into producing this kit - and the links to the curriclum doc are clear. This will be a resource that I think we will use well beyond the scope of our"i aha i konei"project.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This gave the stories authenticity that I think resonated with our ākonga. It also meant that our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi was reflected in being able to connect to first hand accounts - true partnership.

This has been an absolutely amazing journey for our ākonga this term. The breadth of resource, story and artefacts is pretty amazing - and there has been more than enough to keep our ākonga fully engaged and present in their learning in this space. I have loved hearing our ākonga retell things that they have found out - and to hear their enthusiasm for people or places that would have otherwise been unknown to them has been pretty special. We did a full class exploration first - using the Patea Māori Club - and did a deep dive into the lives of both Dalvanius Prime and Ngoi Pēwhairangi. This really set the scene for the journey - and our ākonga were fully inspired to go looking for themselves. The 2 stories that seemed to resonate the most for our learners (outside of Patea) was the nuclear stories including the Rainbow Warrior, and the impact of WW2 and Hitler. They also loved hearing about Jack Lovelock and other sports champions.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We chose the card that was relevant to our area. We researched mōkihi which was used to transport food through lakes and rivers. We were able to visit punatahu which was a mahika kai site in our area. The cards were fantastic in facilitating research

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This is vital. To know that the information and stories come from those in the know, rather than something that is guessed at. It means the stories are authentic and students brought into them more knowing this.

The resources provide rich, in-depth learning information for the NZ History curriculum and other curriculums. The examples share different perspectives and helpful tasks are suggested to support this learning. We did find some of the reading a bit challenging for students.

An amazing collection of resources that ignite the interest of everyone who looks at them. It has been useful for both staff and students to explore and learn about the different stories and different ways we can research our histories. This is an important resource to help unpack the historical skills we need to understand who we are and where we are going.

A great kit - there were so many opportunities to delve into the history of our local area. My student teacher took on 'Construct' to dig deeper into social housing. The kit meant they had all the resources necessary to encourage great engagement from the tamariki. I'm so glad we can hold onto the kit as there's so much more to learn!
