How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I would use this kit as an iExplore inquiry project, where I would have a table set up and see what wonderings our learners come up with. Then we will do a bit of investigating and learning through the stories before presenting any new learning.

“Beautiful kit, and an abundance of resources to provoke our student's curiosity. Although I work in an ILE of 76 learners, and 3 Learning Coaches. we managed to make it work and entice each individual. We used it as an inquiry project and many students made connections to learning we have done previously in our class. Thank you for this amazing kit, I look forward to using it again!”

I'm not sure - it would be good if I had the time, but there's a lot of extra work involved and so many different groups to try to negotiate with. It could easily take up much of a year, and there are so many more national and international focusses that

“The contents of the old flour bag were wonderful, and to be honest they were the most engaging part of the kit. There were so many little items that opened up stories and discussions and it's great to have replica artefacts to help make students aware that not all history is written down. One or two of the items were similar to things a few of the students had seen in their grandparents' homes so there was a strong level of engagement and connection. The sheer amount of material created some difficulties, as it was a bit of a challenge to match each piece of evidence with a story. My students worked in groups with different parts of the kit and a few got frustrated with the activity, although they enjoec handling the items and speculating about them. Some of the questions were quite difficult to answer and I had to pare back quite a lot as there was so much that could have been done and just not enough time to commit to it. In some cases it seemed a little unnecessarily difficult and maybe pitched to high; I'd probably be more likely to use this again with a Year 13 History class rather than the Year 10 Social Studies.”
