How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has made me more appreciative of the body of work we need to examine with our students, a superb way to increase my understanding and all the student I work with.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have a great relationship with the iwi of our kura, which is a privilege. The model has been great to give us more ideas of what else to seek information about and definitely a model to use.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It gave me great pride and confidence to be able to deliver this curriculum to my class. I learnt so much from it and it enabled my class to learn more because I already had the knowledge needed from this kit.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The impact was huge, knowing that the stories were authentic and developed by those whānau/hapu/iwi who those stories belonged too. I feel as though it gave the stories more meaning and my class felt like they could make connections to those iwi.

It will help to use the resources and seek out the land forms and areas of interest specifically to where my students and I live. Using the resources shared already and the links that will widen our own perspective on things in general. Very motivated

I am able to see what my students are capable of doing and that they fully understand, know and do for our Aotearoa Histories Curriculum. I feel more enriched and capable in this curriculum considering we are beginning and extending our journey.

“My akonga absolutely loved sinking their teeth and investigative skills into this. Lots of exploration, collaboration and investigations to be had. Loads of discussion both in pairs, small groups and whole class. The confidence in having a say increased as my akonga worked on their journeys. A really good kit to work through with my akonga.”

“Something happened here.. our Year 9 students absolutely loved this kit. They were engaged and excited to be learning about the things that really happened here and found a good level of challenge in the activities. The activities are expertly differentiated and let all of our students challenge themselves and achieve at their own pace. I found that the areas where myself or my colleagues did not know enough we were quickly able to learn with and from our students. Students loved being able to touch and play with small objects that helped them bring to life what had happened.”
