What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This gave everything authenticity and allowed us to carry out genuine investigations. The fact that it was developed in collaboration with iwi meant I could be confident in trusting the research and make sure I was delivering stories in a respectful way.

“This kit was full of awesome resources that got our tamariki engaged in the lesson. The online research element was also very effective, they enjoyed being experts and sharing back what they had learnt. I learnt just as much from this kit and will definitely be using it again.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I would use this model, and the local community to help me. We have used TeAna before and that has been a wonderful springboard into storytelling, navigation, and rivers and stars.

The kit made a big impact on me for delivering the new curriculum because it was so vast and yet so focused in specific events. For example the Claim card really exposed the gold land grab and the vulnerability of maori within this realm. But it also show

“I really loved teaching this kit. The way is was layered made it accessible to all of my students, and the support materials created a lot of curiosity for them about our amazing history. I was quite apprehensive about teaching Aotearoa NZ Histories until I went into your resource, and I think it will be fabulous to continue, bothe for specific teaching in groups to enrichment work for more able self driven students. The questions generated from the artifacts were fantastic, and the rich photographs made great investigative focus for me...Thank you thank you thank you !!!”
