How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I think it provides a great model of how to use an image/artifact/pepeha to introduce a story. It can be useful to get students questioning before they learn.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has taught me stories I wasn't aware of. Also, for some historic events I already have in my programme, I can add the artifact/digital archives to my unit to enhance it.

Saved this kit til the end of the year (this year only) as a culmination of learning we've done over the year. Next year I want to use it at the start of the year to introduce how we 'do' history. As with the WWI SchoolKit, I will use this again and again each year. The students were engaged and wanted to see what many stories were about before they settled with one and did a 'deep dive' on it. The artifacts peaked a lot of interest.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I like the idea of using objects and images/ newspapers from the past as clues for the students to find out more. Storytelling is such a powerful way to be engaged in the past. What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It definitely gave me more confidence to tell the stories knowing that local iwi and whanau had been involved. my confidence to tell local stories was quite low but I feel much more competent now. I loved the fact that my students and I were also learning

This kit has been a phenomenal resource and will continue to be!! We loved learning about the different places around Aotearoa and the stories behind them. As a teacher, it took a little time to get my head around how I would use this and at what level, however, once I understood the different ways students could use it, I have been hooked! There is so much detail and rich information to access. Thank you for the huge amount of work that went into this kit!

Have managed one week on this kit as junior exams were on when it arrived. Students are engaged, and most find the stories interesting, not all are into history. I've used this kit in different ways: with one Y9 (one story) and two Y10 classes (one an accelerated class). They will all be presenting at the end of November. As a historian, I love the varied resources. We'll use some of the stories in our L1 History next year.

The whole cohort of Year 10 spent time working in groups to work on the photos, artefacts and then the Something Happened Here sections. The engagement was immediate, the talking, the research and the questions that were asked was fabulous and this is at the end of the year when engagement is often waning. We were so impressed with the quality and the range of material and all of these materials will be merged into our Year 9 and 10 units next year. Can not recommend enough.

I used several activities as a staff meeting to prompt some thinking by teachers and how they could incorporate artifacts and viewing historical photos in their classrooms. It was well received.

We spent our time just focused on one of the cards - one from our local area, but I can't wait to delve deeper into the other cards too. The class were fascinated and were really hooked. We loved the online videos, photographs and maps that gave the kids a real insight to what life used to be like when their grandparents were kids/teenagers.
