The idea and information is great but I found it quite daunting to try and work out which postcard related to work which topic. For example, on the large poster with the topics (ie Jewish) it would have a number but I couldn’t, without reading them all, work out which post card it related to. We did some but the students found some a bit difficult.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I'm not sure, I need to have a lot more time to be able to explore the history of our local area, you don't have this kind of time when you are full-time teaching and all the extras that go with this

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I am getting glimpses of ideas of ways to teach the Aotearoa Histories Curriculum - but it's so big it's hard to know how to start. I loved that these stories were readily available and contained links that could lead us further is we wished.

I found I was really only using the stories and some of the links to take us a bit further. Some stories prompted lots of discussion, others seemed to not interest the children much. It didn't help that I have very little knowledge of much of our history so I was wading through stories & links just before using them with the children (so that they were fresh in my head) and I still feel rather out of my depth. We tried to use some of the artifacts after reading the relevant stories but I struggled to link these so I think that's why the students didn't seem particularly interested. I would love to continue having access to the stories and links in the future because I still feel like I'm only just getting going with working out how to use them to excite the students about NZ's past.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We already do explore the history of this area. I don't know the model well enough to know.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? There is so much in the new AHC - that just getting my head around that let alone gaining confidence using a new way of delivery - there's a lot of new in all of that. Possibly ask the question again in a couple of years. Also with your multi choice

My Year 8 class found this a really interesting resource and for my most curious - fun and they enjoyed it. It was a new and thought provoking journey into our histories. I loved the fact different perspectives were explored. However for the learners who struggle to read and navigate easily around various different types of texts etc. It was a major road block for a lot of them. I think in part because there was little scaffolding or a clear road map in terms of do this first - this second....I guess on reflection it is a different way of engaging with material... I will be using it again next year but will have to be aware that I may need to give greater support and guidance for those students who might get lost and overwhelmed by it.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The kit has helped us to plan our history curriculum as a school rather than just as a class. We are able to use the kit to plan effectively for all year groups using age appropriate stories and resources provided. We were able to adapt some of the teachi

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The stories align with the new ANZH curriculum so we found the stories incredibly helpful with jump starting our dive into the new curriculum. Awesome kit! Students loved exploring tangible piece of NZ history and finding out more through inquiry tasks. Would 100% recommend using in conjunction with the new Aotearoa New Zealand History curriculum too.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As someone who is already designing much learning EOTC and utilising the resources in our community, it has inspired me to see if I can use this model myself in the future!

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I feel bolstered by it and it has allowed me to broaden my knowledge base and branch out more, in the past I have started with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, had small groups learn and present about parts of our hitori from Gondwanaland - Now, used our local rohe,

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? I feel that this takes away the main barrier of why many teachers do not teach the stories, many don't have the knowledge or someone to contact who does. It also means first and foremost that the iwi/whanau/community are represented accurately, as they se

Kia ora koutou, as someone who has always honoured Te Tiriti o Waitangi by teaching age appropriate Aotearoa Hitori every year, I was excited to learn that this kit had been developed! The tamariki and I have found the learning design to be HIGHLY ENGAGING, varied and endlessly prompts new wonderings which we are following up on! I will certainly use and reuse and reuse this kit in the future! Best one yet and so timely as many teachers who do not feel confident or have the content knowledge to teach Aotearoa Hitori, can be supported by this kit and trust in it's historical accuracy. I recently attend a PLD opportunity to familiarise with the NZ Histories Curriculum, and shared it with those who attended from other schools, I hope they acquire a kit and use it in their class, syndicate and schools!

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It's actually tricky to find meaningful information about our local area online which is what kids want to do. We have chosen instead to use the skills of our local museum curators to guide us. The kit though is a fantastic complement to it. I would not h

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? As I said previously I have only used the photo's so far. We started with analysing these and thinking about who took them, why, when, what type of photo it was, what we could see in it, how it might have been taken and then what was happening in Aotearoa

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Everything in the kit is just fantastic but it is a lot of information to wade through and I imagine I'll still be getting fresh use out of the kit for the next couple of years!

The kit is so cool. I confess I have only used the photo's so far and we have then used what we learnt from this to analyse photo's from our town. I'm really looking forward to using all the other bits and pieces in the kit for future investigations. I was quite unsure how to go about teaching our country and local history so the kit has been a great springboard for ideas on how to go about it in an engaging and meaningful way. Thanks so much School kits, you are awesome.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The children have used it in their day to day interactions and discussions.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It took a bit of navigation - the website, the squad and the kit were aligned, but a bit of streamlining could have helped. The children are year 7, and found some of the readings quite long and a few struggles to complete.

A well-resourced and history-rich kit. Some of the content was quite difficult for younger or lower-ability students.
