This kit has greatly increased my confidence to deliver the new Aotearoa Histories Curriculum as the stories have been created by the local iwi from that community. I can also see how each story fits into the structure of 'Understand', 'Know' and 'Do' of

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Greatly. Kits like this mean are able to get on and teach rather than wade through so many resources and/or avoid the subject. Having a go to kit that I know kids and myself enjoy working with enhances my confidence and ability to teach this subject.

“This kit is easy to follow, involves opportunities to look at key knowledge and complete tasks for the new NZ history curriculum. My students were fully engaged, enjoyed the online activities and were able to discuss events that occured from different perspectives. This will be a go to kit for many years as it is very comprehensive and one we can easily return to. Brilliant - thank you school kit for doing all the hard work for us.”

The kit has introduced to me new stories and a different approach to delivering the stories - I enjoyed the interactive aspect, particularly using the different websites to gather information.

Provided such an inspiring way to deliver stories - it has inspired me to research further into our local story. We have even organised a team visit to our local library to provide historical information to help with our research.

“This kit was absolutely fantastic for my capable year 7&8s. My less casinos students needed quite a lot of support but still got a lot out of it. We found it was too challenging gif our year 5/6 students (even though it said tears 4-8). I will definitely use it again for my intermediate students.”

“We have used this kit throughout Year 7-8 with success. In 2023 I will use this kit as the basis for a Semester Length (6 Month Course). Emma and her team have created the best resource I have seen for Aoteareo/New Zealand Histories. It will now grow and develop further with local stories to go with the ones on the site. “Hands down the best one I've registered for to teach in my class. Yes, it is a big kit and a lot of stories to teach. However, it is a kit you can integrate both your literacy curriculum into, a bit of maths, lots of geography and histories. Histories of which the students and myself are in awe with and we find them interesting, the conversations from these stories and tasks is never ending. We had covered the Bomb Gone kit last term and one of the history stories from this kit is about Nuclear bomb and Rainbow Warrior. My students made that connections and we covered those histories in a week. I have recommended the kit to my team because there is potential to use one pepehā and teach it for a week or even two. The resources are accessible and the preparation to have everything ready for teaching makes it so worth it. My class will be working on this kit for the whole term and I will continue with the rest of the pepeha's next year in term 1. Amazing.”
