How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Very much so. And not just the students but the teachers too. It fitted into work our kahui ako has been doing on promoting local stories and histories and investigating the local stories behind our 3 maunga. Could easily use this model for that context.

“It was a bit tricky to get the students on as some of the language was complex for year 4 students but once they were in they were hooked! They loved the online components and enjoyed the complexity of the handwriting activity. This kit fitted right in with the students learning and understanding for the new curriculum and was a fantastic resource to trial with the students. Thanks for an amazing kit and learning journey.”

We are excited about exploring and documenting our local contexts next year as we continue to grow our understandings. We have a fascinating history in our area and lots of resources provided by our local rūnanga.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? We have worked through the kit simultaneously with our PD in this area so it is hard to know what has helped my confidence the most but certainly (between the two) my confidence has increased tenfold.

“This is a HUGE kit full of stories and artifacts and it is obvious that an enormous amount of work must have gone into it. Thank you. How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have many local areas that we think we could adapt and use this model of learning to really delve deeper into the local history and link it to our local curriculum.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? My confidence has really increased and with this, the delivery of the curriculum will be more embedded in our inquiry units. The useful resources we used throughout will continue to be used for as a springboard for many different furure inquiries.
