What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? High engagement from students with Maori decent, especially with stories from Hawkes Bay where we live. I have iwi from the marae at Paki Paki and many families who worked at the works in Hastings which closed in the 80's.

Oh my goodness my students are loving this unit. Full engagement, buy in and participation. Many students have similar stories to share. We have done some compare and contrast work. The resource is so engaging because the contents are real. Excellent hands on, stimulating photographs. Every student in my room could relate to some of the stories. I had parents and grandparents wanting to share their stories that were similar. WW1, Gold Mining, Nuclear Testing in the Pacific. So many can remember July 15th 1985. Many students had relatives that came to NZ on sailing ships in the 1800's. The kids are really enjoying this. Loved the pictures and photographs. So detailed, relevant, interesting and authentic. They stimulated such enthusiastic discussion and questioning. I'm sure I was in the Auckland Santa Parade photograph. Every family has a history, starts somewhere? What a fantastic resource to be able to use. Thank you.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I consider myself reasonably confident in my historical knowledge, but letting tamariki research like 'real historians' means that the learning is more powerful.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Yes, it was important to know that local iwi had input into the story. They weren't our local iwi, with whom we already work, but part of the story ended at Parliament, where local iwi's rights and mana were poorly treated during the March occupation this

What a fabulous resource! The facsimile documents and other items were a very high standard and led to lots of interesting conversations in class and also back home with whanau. Tamariki are now more aware of important events that have shaped Aotearoa and are also learning about the valuable and accessible historical information available for research. Tamariki are also learning to think about whose point of view is being shown and how that might differ from someone else's perspective, which is so important when facing the barrage of information (and misinformation!) that is available to them now digitally. I will be using this kit a lot.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As mentioned above, we hope to link into the concept of this story within our own community, which is developing townhouses rapidly. It is how we will link the past to the present, and history elsewhere to current events here.

This is an immense Kit! There are so many stories, and so much information. We have focused on Construct this term, and are still digging deeply into it. We hope to then explore other stories that link in then finish off by examining the rapid development in our own community.

The children absolutely loved it! It opened so many doors. It took a wee while to get the ball rolling, but once they got onto what they needed to do it was great. I also discovered that there are many children in my class that love learning about ANZH and have a real strength in this area.

The kids really enjoyed using the website to dig deeper alongside the postcards and little treasures. It was great to learn some NZ history and find out about events that had happened in our country. This is a resource that we can continue to use next year and weave through our understanding of the NZ Histories Curriculum.
