How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As we had a part from our particular area (Pukekohe) it was a great stepping stone to research what else had happened and created a great sense of wonder amongst the students.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It is great because I know there are resources that are readily available to start with a particular area. And then I just let the students explore and we carrying on with their inquiry

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This is fantastic - it is great to obtain knowledge from all perspectives. As we have not always had there perspective on historical topics before, it is great to have their input now.

“The ANZH: Something Happened Here 22 is a fantastic kit. I love the way that it explores many different events in a variety of areas throughout Aotearoa. The students especially liked to work on our local event as it was more relevant to them and helped them see things in a different light. I also love the way the kit was created, with the photos and visual aids. Photos are always a great conversation starter and work well as writing prompts too!”

Understanding stories that I wasn't 100% sure on and new to me, is going to help with teaching it in the future. Also knowing there are a lot of resources out their to support the teaching of Histories in New Zealand.

“This kit is truly outstanding. The work that has gone into sourcing the stories and artifacts is really impressive. The students loved the postcards and researching the pepeha on the back was a great starting point/entry into the historical event. It was great to be able to explore this using the context of the new curriculum refresh. The knowledge students gained and could recall after their exploration was really encouraging. The range of activities with their various scaffolding allowed all students access to the material. This will be a forever kit that I will use every year - a bit like my Anzac one!!! Thanks School KIt!!”
