Though a wonderful resource, and one that I would truly use well if I was back in my Y7 and 8 class, my Y4s really struggled. I hand picked ones that I though would be easier, and of interest with them but it ended up be a lot of 'Teacher do, children watch', which is not how I really like inquiry to be. The barriers were: * A reasonable reading ability was necessary * A reasonable level of digital researching was needed (not done to the level required for this project in our class to date) * there needed to be a level of natural curiosity (something I've prided myself on in the past in developing through classroom practise but this group was ready with the level of questioning, etc that would have better supported this group) * Many of the topics, though very applicable to our history, held very heavy stories for this very young audience Again. I cannot reiterate how amazing this resource was, and I am so grateful to have it (to use again with the older ones in the future). Should a resource aimed for a younger reader, explorer, with similar learning of important events in history, be presented in a way that is more suited for my young audience...I AM ALL IN!

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I can certainly see how this model can apply to our local area. I love the idea of analysing photos and artefacts, and exploring historical documents through an inquiry approach.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? We are now faced with the idea of developing a 2-year plan for our school and each syndicate. This in itself, remains overwhelming, however, now having used the School Kit, I am starting to see how this might be possible. Thank you so much to all of the c

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The iwi/whanau/community section was important to each story and helped me, as a professional educator, to be more mindful of perspectives and viewpoints — this afterall, is a big feature of the ANZHC document.

The ANZHC School Kit is FULL of goodies! Once you get used to it, the student website is easy to navigate and includes lots of fantastic links. The kids enjoyed being given a postcard and going on a 'taonga hunt' to unearth the story behind the postcard. In Term 4, we studied the Franchise card as a class as it's local to our area.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Its been amazing, it made me realise how little we know about the migration of Pasifika families to our small town, and how things have been documented for this era in time.

It was a bit hard to relate some of things to my students who come from diverse backgrounds i.e pasifika, maori students. Some of the things, were a bit difficult to hook in our learners. However it was really interesting for some to see a different aspect of Aoteroa History.

We only worked through one postcard set - due to time constraints ( things like Xcountry, Acord days etc). From the story of Meri Mangakahia we spun off into looking further at suffrage, world timelines, bicycles in relation to suffrage and so on, which also took time - but very valuable learning time.

An outstanding resource that has been well researched and thought out. The artifacts in the kit bring a tangible dimension to student learning. It is a real bonus to have all the links in the tasks for students. The tasks enable students to think critically about our past and see history from a range of perspectives. This is an excellent resource for teachers to learn alongside their students.

There was so much within this kit. I loved the way the students found out about the postcard they had chosen, through investigating the pepeha. The website was detailed, and had plenty for everyone, and plenty so you could easily differentiate for your class. This kit will be able to be used many more times. The detail / research that has gone into each story was phenomenal.

This kit is full of fun and engaging bits and pieces. Our kids were excited when they got to explore the items. Once they learnt how to decipher a pepeha it was fun to try and solve the puzzle of where the location was in Aotearoa. Our school is looking at developing a local curriculum and there are a few relevant historical stories in the kit that we can use. Thank you!
