How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have had some great support through pataka over the years to learn about the local history of Porirua. This kits supports and helps students make connections between events and histories from their local area and those in the wider NZ Aotearoa area.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has provided me with considerable resources which have been a game changer in teaching important elements of Aotearoa histories that I would have struggled to teach without due to the fact that these important events were not taught during my education

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It was really great to know that we were taught about these events through the eyes of iwi/whanau and community. So we know that it teaches us the perspectives of those affected and not just the point of view of those in power/colonial viewpoint.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I am feeling a lot more confident in teaching Aotearoa NZ Histories to our tamariki. Ensuring access and understanding of key concepts and ideas is critical. Also being prepared to be open and accepting of different viewpoints.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? There was so much information and effective resources delivered that it would have taken hours and hours to plan and implement. It would realistically never have happened had it not been for the kit.

It gives a wide range of topics to choose from and has already fit in with topics I have been covering in class. The stories take on a different perspective from what I may have covered with my class.

“This is an excellent resource. The stories are interesting and varied and many are areas of history that I knew very little about. The online resources were also very good because they were places that I had not thought to use to find information before. So far I have used the kit as whole class activities because I want the pupils to be familiar with the way they are set up before I get them to use them on their own. I plan to use some in small groups this term. I particularly like the questions used to read the phot0s - I have used these questions in many different areas this year.”
