How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The children know it`s okay to be uptight, sad, lonely. But it`s how we ask for help and see it in others to know how to speak to them to offer a listening ear.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Now more than ever kindness and understanding is so important. It`s okay to still feel on edge ( even teachers do ) we have to be patient and considerate of others.

They were able to unpack in a conversation and with visuals actually what a respectful relationship is. It created a good discussion once they understood how to unpack it. How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Helped students recognize that we are a whanau and work together. The battery worked really well to help with this.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Similar response to above really. Students enjoyed the battery each day and going over breathing exercises which has worked when some students became angry or frustrated.

We do a lot of this at the beginning of the year and revisit it at the beginning of each term. I think students skimmed over it a bit more as those foundations were already established. I will try using this kit again at the beginning of next year as a fu

“The Respectful Relationships kit has been very helpful with reconnecting students in my after the lockdown and the uncertainty of Covid-19. Some students were still very worried about Covid-19 and this allowed other students to support them in a positive way. A lot of students have been well charged up with kindness and respectful relationships. This kit has been fantastic with providing students with different viewpoints so that they can understand why other students see things from a different perspective. The poster was wonderful to hang in the class. It created conversations long after it was first introduced. When a situation arises in the playground where respectful relationships are not evident, my class and I have been able to discuss this and refer back to many of the resources within this kit. Recharging was often needed by some students in particular and having the battery visual made it clear to others that they might need a bit of positive encouragement. Seth liked the kit because of the charging up as it has been giving me and my friends some positive thoughts. The positive relationships kit has also been great for some of the aspiring peer mediators when learning about conflict and diffusing situations in a positive manner.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The kit was helpful as it had the resounding message of being different is ok, differences can be celebrated. Some people can stay charged all day, but others struggle with this. So through the Base and charging station, students were not embarrassed

The video clips provided were very useful and I am still referring to them. I have the 'poster' displayed in the classroom and this is still a good talking point. The battery

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The students loved the play lunch book, putting the stickers in and were able to recognise the pro social behaviours.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? We used the battery when we returned from lockdown as a way to check and connect with students and gauge how they were feeling. Task One - noticing feelings was a really important component that took a lot of our time unpacking, especially post lockdown.

“This kit is still going strong in our Hub. Perfect timing not so much because of COVID but because Term 3 is notoriously the time when issue creep in and maintaining relationships can be hard. While other teacher at school were bemoaning the amount of time they were spending on dealing with relationship issue we were just loving the way our kids were getting along - it was AWESOME! We had some very jealous teachers at school!”
