How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The pack gave opportunities for our tamariki who sometimes struggle to connect with others. There was never a lonely time because students kept an eye on each other and ensured that everyone was happy.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? We loved the battery and checking whether we were charging it each day. The tamariki are more aware of each other's feelings and what they can do to support others who are struggling emotionally.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Our tamariki realised the importance of treating people fairly and that there are many ways to do this. It gave opportunities for them to talk about and model these life skills.

“I attempted to use this kit with Year 2's I found it a bit complex for the children to do and took a lot of extra teaching. Unfortunately COVID got in the way of completing this effectively.”

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? They tie in well with our current school values and I work in a collaborative space so it was useful

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It has helped them to develop their social skills - the way they talk to their peers, the way they address and react in certain social situations, and got them beginning to understand that everyone is allowed to have different points of view.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The picture books suggested to go along with this kit were fabulous and have helped to enhance the children's relationships with each other but have also got them talking about specific events which happen out in the playground and in social contexts.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Children are more understanding of each others differences, likes and dislikes. They use their oral language skills more to express their needs.

“Thank you for putting this kit together. I loved the variety of activities and being able to choose different ones to do at different times. The symbol card was a useful way to quickly choose one that worked at the time. Shorter activities work well for the junior age group / attention span. There were some materials which took quite a bit of reading to identify where they fit in.”

“Children participated in a range of cross-curricular activities to develop their understanding of emotions, empathy, respect, and kindness towards others. The open and honest discussions that took place helped all students to get to know their classmates better and understand what makes them tick. Many learnt to step out of their comfort zone and express their thoughts, feelings and opinions in a respectful way, as well as mix with others that they don't usually socialise with.”
