How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Children that usually played alone had now been asked to join in on a game or had the bravery to ask someone to play with them!

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? We saw a lot more kindness and sharing. Kids were playing with older children but were able to say no if they felt unsafe in the situation.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The children were already quite respectful as that is a big focus at our school - but the kit helped reinforce these values through role playing and working together and being inclusive - inviting others to play.

“This kit was useful and a great addition to the mindfulness program that I run in my classroom. It made the students think about prosocial behaviours and to reflect on their own behaviours. It created great discussions in the class and during break times. My teacher aide is on duty during morning tea and she was able use the language and the lessons during this time with our students as well.”

Good discussion was facilitated around what it means to be respectful of others. Getting to know the similarities and differences with others has allowed them to build empathy more throughout the year.

“When I first got the kit I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the information - with Lockdown it all seemed a bit hard. Luckily we had another teacher in our team who led the way and we all sat in a team meeting to explore the box. We continued to do this over our meetings and share what we had each been doing. The activities were well thought out and targeted. The kids loved the friendship books and the stickers. A valuable resource.”

“I thought that the components of the 'Respectful Relationships' kit were excellent and the children responded enthusiastically. The resources were bright, stimulating, and really appealing to young children. The activities were engaging for children and varied. The idea of charging our class battery every day was a terrific concept and the class battery and Classroom Base Station were simple but effective ways of getting the children on board and holding their interest.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The focus on problem solving helped the children develop prosocial behaviours. They enjoyed exploring problem solving through a range of scenarios and ways of learning such as role playing, storytelling, with an element of coding.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? As mentioned above this is ongoing and something integrated into our day. I have had several children this year who really struggle to self regulate their emotions so it has been great to have a few extra tricks up my sleeve.
