How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The playground audit was a great activity that my class really enjoyed participating in. It made them think deeper about who they were interacting with and inclusive play.

“This was a useful kit to be using post Lockdowns. The children have worked on describing their feelings and what they and others can do to help the person when they are 'in the red'. The moment using this kit that melted my heart was when a child rushed over with the charging mat when they heard my frustration when things were not going my way.”

“It was good but a bit complicated for my new entrant class. So I passed it on for one of the year 3/4 teachers to use. Unfortunately the school decided to do a whole school unit so she had to put this aside. I think she is intending to use it in term four.”

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Again, the activity ideas helped to try and teach relationships in a more creative and interactive way, but because of the disruptive year it is hard to measure the actual impact

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? We loved the playing with people we wouldn’t normally play with and how to ask someone to play with you. We also learnt how to be understanding when someone wanted to change the rules or negotiate changing them.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Promotes calmness and thoughtfulness for others. Helped children notice the feelings of others through expression, body language and words.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The kids were keen to collect different stickers. This meant that they chose to hang out with different kids. Often they came back laughing about things they had in common.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? This has been ongoing into Term 3. The stories and concepts are easy to understand. Being able to 'charge the battery' has meant that all children have the opportunity to hear and see different examples of respect.

“Great kit once I got started. I found it a bit hard to find my flow but I think that was more about me than the kids. They loved the recharge station and noticing how they were feeling and being able to communicate it to others. We will continue some of the practices and language we have learnt throughout the rest of the year. I think I will do a better job teaching it a second time (new class next year) as I will have my understanding better and be able to delve into a deeper understanding. Thanks for all you do ! I love the kits”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Aligned well with our play is the way development.

“I loved this kit. We adapted this kit to suit our class needs. We use our sticker chart booklets as reading together charts. The tamariki each had their own and everyday after lunch they choose a new person to read with. Then we would read together for 10 minutes and swap stickers at the end. They have loved collecting all the different stickers and it has promoted a lot of new friendships.”
