How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The activities had tp be adapted for my Year 2 children.

“Parts of this were good- the kids enjoyed swapping the stickers the most. I did find the actual kit not that easy to follow however. I do however have a large class of 5 year olds which made it hard at times to teach. We do a lot of work on respect as part of our every day teaching and learning so the kit was a good support for this.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The passport helped them to think about playing with different children and noticing children who didn't have so many friends. They could talk about this but they still gravitated to their own friends in the playground. Part of being 5!!

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The children realised that feelings can be communicated not only through words but through body language as well. They enjoyed and learnt from acting out feelings and were more aware of how others were feeling.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The children learned to listen to each other through the programme and games. They understood the importance of taking turns and speaking to each other in a way that built relationships rather than caused conflict.

“Respectful Relationships School Kit was a fantastic kit to introduce and ignite new friendships and relationships in the classroom. The class were engaged and enjoyed the different components that were involved. I would recommend using this kit at the beginning of the school year and I will definitely be using this again next year!”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? This part was a little confusing but I used the scenarios to talk about what positive things they can do.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Kids are good at looking at friendship problems and coming up with solutions. Some new friendships came out of the playground project.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Students are more aware of what respectful relationships look and feel like and are very keen to help each other. Several students are very aware of where people are sitting on the battery and want to work hard to help people move up the battery.

“This was a great kit to come back to after the kids being away during lock down. It was great to pull out an activity that linked with things that they were going through or had seen in the media. During this time we also had a new kid start in our class that came from a troubled background and a kid who had come back from lock down completely different. So it was great to help build their relationships with the other kids in the class.”
