How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The Breathing to Calm and Breathing to sing were great.

“This was an excellent, scaffolded resource. This linked into our Catholic Inquiry for term 3 which was Social Justice. As a class we looked at the injustice in the playground. We have now decided that we are going to get Buddy Benches built for our school. This will form our Inquiry for term 4.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The majority of children will now carry out random acts of kindness and realise there is no tangible benefit to them, but that it will make that person feel good and then they will pass it on. We also used Bucket Filling for this understanding.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? My class is genuinely more respectful of one another and this also tied in really well with our two school values we have focused on this year (through our new PB4L values); Respect and Kindness.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? My students are now able to really define a respectful relationship and have realised that there are people in their class they didn't 'like' or didn't want to hang out with but are now really enjoying their company!

“We began the process of getting into the kit and then we had lockdown. Our teaching allocations shifted and I was moved into a different class after lockdown. This meant that I needed to start again with a new group (juniors - 5 year olds) and I was asked to forgo continuing with the kit. I would have loved to carry this on but was not able to complete the kit tasks.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Cannot make a very educated comment on this - sorry. I really want to use this kit in the future again, at the beginning of the year, with older students. Many thanks - these are incredibly valuable resources.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? I would have liked to explore this further with the juniors but was asked to disengage with the kit as I went into a teaching team that were not using it. There wouldn't have been enough resources for all 55 junior students.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? They students were able to connect immediately with the way in which the kit helped us to model and break down what a respectful relationship should look like. We were unable to complete the kit due to a number of circumstances.

The resources specially the Recharge Mat has become an integral part of our class now. It has established well being and positive attitude in our class.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The language we use to each other, the tapping into empathetic feelings and thinking about how our actions even the small ones impact on others.

“This School Kit was awesome. My class really enjoyed the different activities and it was a good way to see them working alongside different people to who they normally would. One boy in my class who was consistently bullying other children now has a whole heap of new friends and his behaviour has significantly improved! I will definitely be using some of these activities again next year!”

Using the traffic light/alert levels (combined with Zones of Regulation) to start the day, helped them tune into their feelings.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Some students will always need support with this. The family influence is strong here and so some are setting a norm at school that is different from home

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? After lockdown students have found it more difficult to re connect with their friends and so they need to be encouraged to listen and respond to their friends.
