How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? There is more discussion with children in different groups in the classroom. I had many children who would only work with 1 or 2 others. There has been a more concerned effort to mix more widely.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? It has made the children far more aware of the way that they speak to the others in the class as well as making sure that they do speak to each other. This has strengthened the class and their relationships as a whole.

This has really made the class think about their relationships with a large variety of their peers in the class. Some children have mentioned that there is a few that they never speak to and this has made them aware of this.

“A great kit , the concepts were easily explained to the children and the highly visual impact was great to see. Children found it easier to have empathy for the characters on the big picture, but needed lots of practice to transfer this to others.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? We have witnessed some prosocial behaviours during Discovery Time. Chn sharing materials, but particularly during active play like dress ups and puppet shows. Here chn often express their feelings more readily and offer support to those who need it.

They have got better at noticing when others seem withdrawn or appear to be left out and are more accommodating of the choices of peers

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Very well, it was a biug topic for us last term and they all enjoyed learning about it.

“We loved how the kit provided visuals, like the battery, to enable our students to identify their feelings and become aware of how their peers were feeling. We had just started our kit activities days before lockdown hit! We picked up our Respectful Relationships learning again once we returned to school, using the model of Te Whare Tapa Wha to reconnect with each other, acknowledging and validating all that each of our class mates had been through. Sharing our lockdown memories and checking in with each other's wellbeing throughout the day was a priority focus for our class. What a timely resource at this time! Thank you!”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Great to use the kit after lockdown and as part of our wellbeing programme - especially to reconnect as a class.

“This pack related beautifully to our inquiry. It enabled the students to make connections with their own relationships and to consider the diverse mix of students we have in our learning community. Being in lock made it really tricky to use the awesome activities in this kit to their full potential although I shared some of the ideas through my on line meetings with the children which parents commented they enjoyed being part of. Giving students the opportunity to become more independent and resilient and is a great message for parents who often feel the need to protect their child when their children are actually very capable. The cards had lots of great questions which prompted some really good discussions and the children were able to reflect on their responses comparing their ideas with the ideas of others. I was able to link the skills developed in this kit with the Bucket filler story which we already have in place in our classroom. The students earned stickers for their buckets by demonstrating kindness towards others.”

“The children have loved this kit. They have been exposed to different ways to interact with their peers and have LOVED using all of the resources. Daily, we use the battery to charge up our class to make sure we are resilient and ready for the day. This is a great visual cue for the children as well. The children have made a real effort to play with different people in our class which has been magic to see and have used the 'Play Lunch Project' to build new relationships.”
