The children are mixing with more children. they really empathised with the children in the stories. This kit connected well with our RE program and the children really understood the concepts.

“This school kit was very useful to my class, especially with all the chaos that lockdown brought. We were only able to focus on it fully when we came back to school and it gave my students a chance to think about how other children and teachers were feeling in the new landscape which schools and children found themselves.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? My students are aged between 5 and 7 and as such are fairly egocentric. This school has allowed them to appreciate other people's points of view and build better relationships

“A really, really useful resource that we are planning to continue to use eg in our literacy programme using the die. Really liked the simple clear explanations eg of Whare tapa whaa. We're using it in our te reo programme and trying to use the language and the concepts daily as a way to incorporatete reo/ te ao Maaori”

“Unfortunately covid 19 pushed us into lockdown so we adapted this resource to online. Respectful relationships was perfect for having the kids show how they helped at home over lock down. How they helped their siblings, parents - especially those parents who were working at home. Then when we returned to school under level 2, moving back into a class situation where kids needed to be respectful with regards to changes to school routine which included sanitizing, social distancing, playing areas and non playing zones in the school. We were able to use the stickers and cards to endorse showing respect in a various ways inside and outside the classroom.”
