I found this school kit on respectful relationships timely and relevant to the children of Years 3 and 4. They were very excited to participate in the group discussions around the questions, play lunch project was a great activity which allowed my class to play with someone different each time. Those students who were quite lonely thrived and enjoyed this task more. It was a lovely way to encourage respectful relationships and friendships within the classroom. Promoted positive behaviour and acceptance of others. The students loved it so much that we are going to keep this going in our classroom. The charge my battery task was brilliant and students were able to talk about how they were feeling at different times during the day and it was very informative for me as a teacher as it would allow me to respond accordingly.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? More tolerance, children have been more proactive in engaging with others who aren't usually in their social circles.
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Children are able to identify and talk about how they are feeling and how they are feeling about the actions of others - are they showing manaakitanga? We've also had more mindfulness time in the classroom and the tamariki love it!

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The podcasts and playlists (both audio and visual) have been great to use to reinforce our kōrero. Wish our school library had all the books!!
While there was some good content it was quite complex and not easy to access. It may have been the Lockdown but I just found I didn't have the energy to really get into it.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The battery was a huge influence, getting kids to deliberately seek opportunities to perform acts of kindness and to notice others doing so. Became a way of talking in our class, and even went as far as helping fill my battery when I was feeling rough one
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Play lunch project made it okay for different kids to play together, find common ground. Some interesting discoveries were made about each other!

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Specifically helped some of my kids who would only ever play with their besties understand that they can successfully broaden their group of friends and how we can’t own friends.
This unit came at the perfect time and it was wonderful to continue using post covid 19. the kids loved the charging station and the Playground project was a big hit. I have used the stories which integrate beautifully with our Catholics schools RE program and the children really connected with them. I have used the concepts from this kit to support children with special needs to develop their social skills further as well. thank you so much for this unit.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Playlunch project helped prosocial behaviours. Children gave each other compliments and their focus was on making someone else happy, bringing about awareness of the wellbeing of others.

Really enjoyed using the kit with my class. We found it particularly useful coming back to school after the COVID-19 closure. The magnetic battery has been great for children to be aware of how they are feeling and why. I also really liked using the question cards to create discussions around relationships etc.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It gave them a chance to discuss all the concepts and listen to each othets ideas.
We watched and discussed some of the videos, and we discussed what respect means. When we came out of Lockdown - not all children came back straight away. Some activities were done, but others put on hold. It relates so well to our kids, so I look forward to continuing with it in the future.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? When incidents occur, I can refer back to class learning.
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The activities we used certainly complemented the learning we have been focussing on. It took a while to get going to be honest because we had barely begun it and then went into lock down. We lost momentum somewhat so we started again pretty much.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? As mentioned earlier, the dice were particularly useful.
A bit tricky to get my head around, but once I worked out how to use the kit it worked well. Lots of opportunities to add in my own ideas, activities and books, and to tie in with school culture. Some things a bit tricky for my class - mixed level, mostly year 1. Loved the battery idea, became part of our class culture.

My kids are able to work together in groups of up to 4 without much bickering or exclusionary behaviour. They are better able to solve social problems that arise within the group as they can see emotions in others and have some strategies for how to help.

Students loved all aspects of this kit. They loved taking part in the activities and discussions and as a teacher I loved the way it could be interactive and shared with families. The video clips and sticker booklets were very popular!
