How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It has been great for most children, but there are some children that wouldn’t buy into it all of the time.

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? So relevant!! It was hard for the children to come back after lockdown, so this kit was so good and useful in building back those relationships

Through the videos and stories that were made available plus some others, we had many open discussions about what a respectful relationship is and I could see this being shown both in the classroom and out in the playground. “This kit was amazing! I loved the charging station and it fitted in so well. It has been great to link our school value of Courtesy and our RE topic Fruits of the Holy Spirit to this. We have enjoyed using the battery and being able to recharge ourselves on the spot when we aren’t coping to have some ‘chill out time’ has been great as we came back after lockdown. We focused on showing courtesy in the classroom and playground and we nominated others who had shown courtesy and collected the stickers. We enjoyed coding a story to show ways we can recharge our batteries too (will add photos soon!). Looking forward to doing the poem this week. Thank you so much. Couldn’t have come at a better time!”

The charged up battery has had a positive impact especially in the way that the kids communicate when they play. Being able to label their emotions means that others understand how they’re feeling and they can act accordingly.

The open ended questions/situations meant we could have many conversations around how to be respectful to others. It gave us real life contexts to use. The kids are always thinking about what impact their words and actions have on others.

“I found the respectful relationship kit a valuable teaching resource. I especially liked the bilingual nature of the kit, as well as the way it got the children to think deeper about how they interact with each other inside and outside of the classroom. The interpretive dance was fabulous as showed a strong male Group of dancers closely linked to the mana of Haka and Māori culture. A few of our boys were seen trying some of the moves out in the playground. The children all wanted to make a glitter jar and loved how it replicated how they felt when they got mad, all swirled up inside. They could all relate to the story and how it felt to be left out or just too scared to ask to join in a game. Overall we did the bulk of the tasks but have plenty still to do and use at an future date. Thanks School Kit Once again. Linda”
