How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Many components were ";over their heads";. In reflection, it was tricky timing with the kit arriving just before COVID lockdown - our class transitioned to school over lockdown. I think the ";battery pack"; was a great visual that kids could link to.

“My Year One class loved this kit - they particularly enjoyed the battery and could really relate to the idea of charging their batteries. It was lovely to see the children interacting more with one another and taking the time to get to know other children outside of their particular friend group (in year one often kindy buddies stick together, particularly after lockdown I noticed they were sticking with known friends) and we really developed the idea of a class community which was great.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Students were able to explore the facets that constitute a positive, healthy and respectful relationships. We covered filling people’s buckets, social relationships and linked it into Life Education

“Such a great resource especially after coming back from lockdown. The children loved thinking of new ways to charge their batteries and enjoyed swapping stickers while some even made connections with children they wouldn’t have previously. Thank jack you for such a wonderful resource.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It encouraged children to widen their usual circle of social interactions, allowing them to view things from another child's perspective. Lovely to watch!

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The tamariki have been more aware of others and their feelings. Also acknowledging the feelings we have/had post lockdown. Helped them understand this was ok to have all of these different feelings.

“Coming back to school after Home Learning during Lockdown was the perfect time for this kit. It helped us to re-establish kind friendships and get to know some of classmates that we didn't usually play with. The website was helpful in providing further resources and an idea of how to structure or order the different elements.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Students enjoyed especially all books and other online resources that were available to read and sing. All in one place for the teacher. Thank you.

“Many thanks for another enjoyable kit. This was a good way to integrate the start of a school year with children coming from various different rooms. It took me some time to set up the lesson order but once I had read through everything I found the key on all resources and the master sheet very easy to follow. My class enjoyed adding stickers to their individual booklets. Initially we did this with just our class but then included the two other Year 3 - 4 classes at school.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It helped those students in particular that struggled to form more than one friendship, no more ";besties"; as everyone was friends with everyone. Made a positive culture in the classroom

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Less tiddle-tattling as the students were forming those relationships in a positive way. Less catty-ness with the girls as they were expanding their social circles too

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? In a way it forced them to build those relationships in a non threatening way, the stickers were the incentive, and gaining a rainbow of stickers was a bonus. The students really responded to this activity.

“This kit was really useful post lockdown as a way to rebuild the classroom culture. There were a good variety of activities in the kit but we didn’t use some of it as it was a little bit advanced for the young age of my students. I also found that some of the activities were a bit vague In detail and I wasn’t sure of the best way to use them.”

The battery has helped some of our Learners to notice when they are 'out of sorts', articulate it to a staff member or buddy, and take action to move themselves back into 'ready to learn'. This means fewer escalations into severe behaviour for the student

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The booklet with stickers helped Learners to connect withith those who they might not be necessarily engage with in class.

“This kit came at a vital time within our classroom when we were coming back after lockdown. Our focus was on building positive relationships and this kit fitted in perfectly to allow the children opportunities to build respectful relationships and the importance of these through a very stressful time - great kit, I loved it and it was so great for the children to positively think about the people around them and how their actions effect others.”
