“I received this kit during lockdown/ a disruptive time in the year when I was unable to use it. It was a great kit to start the year with when the children were getting to know their new classmates and understanding what their friends like and don't like. Our concept at school was Diversity and this linked well.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Absolutely as I said above they became upstanders for each other and it helped them understand each other better. They are now a very supportive class who applaud each others efforts even if it's something they would find easy.

“Loved this kit especially the play lunch project, fantastic for the beginning of the year so that the students get to know each other better. It made our class a tight unit who are upstanders for each other and helped them understand each other better. They are now a very supportive class who applaud each other's efforts even if it's something they would find easy. The students also loved the would you rather cards, voicing their own opinions and respecting other's views.”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? A couple of the classes in our POD have used the resources so it was nice to be able to make connections with children from other classes.

“My class enjoyed using all of the resources that came with this kit. The interactive dice and the way it enabled class wide and group wide discussions was one of our favourites. I love how there are take homes for the children to have discussions with their families. The questions are thought-provoking too. I also love how the resources are in English and Te Reo. We value the 1005 recyclable resources too.”

“The respectful relationships kit was a fabulous way to start the year with a new class. The kit took us through how to develop positive relationships and being empathetic towards others. The kids loved the magnets and adding boosting the battery packs. It was great to start off by giving compliments. This required explicit teaching which was great as there were quality compliments.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It was very helpful having all the stickers and magnetic buttons, and talking about their feelings. My tamariki really benefited from it, that I am going to revisit areas when my class need it, as being respectful and caring never stops.
