How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? I am hoping that it will grow relationships and understanding
This kit was good at focussing students on how they interact with their peers. The access to stories, playground projects and battery resources, made it visual, in-your-face and gave oportunities for great conversations. Vocabulary was built for describing feelings, allowing students to communicate more effectively with their peers. Tasks were interactive and engaging.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? When working out problems in games, we regularly refer back to how Tim felt when he was caught out and how he responded.

A great unit to build a culture of caring and respect in your class. A wide range of activities that give your learners opportunities to talk, laugh and just be - you'll be sure to have a favourite one or two.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? I think it's reinforced prosocial behaviours, I spend most of Term 1 focussing on this so the behaviours are already there, the kits just served as a reminder.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? The biggest thing is that it has encouraged most children to play with children they don't normally play with at least once, in order to get the stickers. This has led to some successful new friendships.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? I don't know that this kit is extra relevant because of Covid, I think it's relevant as a beginning-of-the-year kit in any circumstances. My class culture has not been hugely affected by covid.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? I think it has probably reinforced teaching and learning that had already taken place in Term I don't believe anything substantially new has occured.
This kit worked well alongside our unit we were focusing on around the whole school. It aided us on explaining working together and having quality relationships.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? As the teacher, I have noticed less ‘tell tales’ after morning tea and lunch breaks! So I take that as a win. The children that sometimes are happy to say no to others joining a game are more aware of their actions.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? In the classroom I feel the kids are now able to understand that when everyone is included it helps our class environment. The kids came up with a little motto that had stuck in our room. Team work makes the dream work!

We were really excited to use this kit, unfortunately it disappeared after it was delivered to our school :(

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? We as a class started to find it helped but didn't notice as much as in Term as we didn't get the kit until part way through term 1 so hopefully this will definitely see a better change in the behaviours within the children in Term 2.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? It's been difficult to keep the momentum with children and staff being off sick. However, it's helped those children who are anxious.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Yes - children are now a little more open to other students rather than sticking with the same person.
We are still working with the kit which has some fabulous resources. We have 3 batteries at the front of our Studio. The students work hard to fill their batteries. We are amazed by this as there is no reward other than filling the batteries. It is great to see students recognising when they need to recharge and going to sit on the recharge station mat. We will keep this going next year.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Because of the late arrival of the kit we are still working with it but it is helping to develop students understandings of good relationships.
The Class Battery and Playlunch Project has been hugely successful for my tamariki. They have loved charging up the battery each day and it has supported the children to be more respectful and conscious of their peers in academic and social settings. Most children managed to fill up their booklets by playing with everyone in the classroom. The Playlunch Project helped to foster a wide range of new friendships that have continued to be maintained throughout the remainder of the year. Many parents commented on how impressed they were with their children building and maintaining new relationships.
