How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The story and the booklets gave examples and discussion points. We also discussed what activities would be respectful to do together for the sticker booklets

“I found the contents of the kit to be amazing quality! My students throughly enjoyed the dice, stories and songs that went along with the 'Respectful Relationships' context. I did find the kit a bit confusing, I was unsure how to implement it and where to begin. If there was a teaching sequence then that would have been extremely beneficial!”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has been amazing to see the class turn into a team which is not afraid to help anyone and everyone. So awesome to watch new entrants and year ones move out of their egocentricities and into being a wonderful team member.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Coincidently we used this kit during our class covid peak, and it was awesome to help everyone understand how everyone's energy was coming back to school.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? The student loved placing the coloured stickers in their booklets. This activity supported the students to expand their friendship circles and be open to interacting with a wider variety of peers.

“My students thoroughly enjoyed being part of this kit. I have seen so many friendships being built and a huge improvement in how our new students settle in. I have heard many conversations from my students asking each other questions about their interests, families, hobbies etc. It has been a great tool in our classroom. The students particularly loved the base station and I often notice them heading to the charge up mat when they look disengaged.”

“In my New Entrant class the kit encouraged lots of discussion about what makes a good friend, how to ask others to play, the importance of developing a wide circle of friends. The 'Play date project' resource was successful in encouraging my children to play with a wider range of friends and appreciate the qualities of others in the class. We had a 'playdate' session each day after lunch and this was very much looked forward to by the children and they loved swapping stickers afterwards and adding to their own 'rainbow' of friends. As a result I noticed the students broadening their friendships within the class . The 'battery' was a great visual to use with the children. Every day we tried to 'charge' the battery by sticking on magnets when the children were overheard speaking kindly and positively with one another, or giving someone else a compliment.”
