Individuals are more aware of the impact they have on people around them positive and negative and can recognise it in their peers- leading to less egotis

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? We had to break down the word RESPECT into different concepts and gave each letter of the word an appropriate action and then the children's understanding grew and they were able to implement these into their current and new relationships. The battery was
The children built new relationships with 2 children who came into our class during the term They took turns to buddy up with each child and make them feel comfortable. It also got different groups of children mixing together and trying new games. At the start the children really got into the question cards and worked hard on their reasoning.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? A busy term 4 with a class of vertical groupings Year 0-8 made it tricky to implement this kit class wide, however they loved the poster and sticker chart - and it helped to remind them of prosocial behaviours.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? The kit led us to integrate the zones of regulation which has been really positive.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? A busy term 4 with a class of vertical groupings Year 0-8 made it tricky to implement this kit class wide, however they loved the poster and it helped to build on their understanding respectful relationships through manaakitanga.
What I was able to use was great. Due to covid we didn't get to do all the activities.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has created a good class culture. It means students use the language and questions one another but also have good strategies and scripts they can use when they feel it is going wrong.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? We use the circle time model in our classroom and this tied in really nicely with that. It had great cross over concepts and the children were able to really see how we can have respectful relationships.
The Respectful Relationships kit has once again been a huge hit in my class. The children particularly love the Playlunch project which encourages and builds strong relationships within the class. They also love charging our class battery every day. The kit is very user friendly and was a great kit to use, especially coming back after 2021 school lockdowns.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Relationship problem solving skills have improved overall-negotiating and compromising, listening to others ideas. Those who struggled to make new friends are happily playing with many different children. They are definitely more respectful to each other.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? There is a lovely hum in the class with very little niggly issues with each other. I'm noticing them being more tolerant of others, listening and negotiating with respect. They are more aware of how others are feeling.

They developed skills for making new friends. And very importantly skills for keeping new friends by showing them respect. They learnt how important it is to listen to each other's idea
This kit was great - activities were relevant for this age group and slotted in well with our inquiry on Building a class community and also fitted in well with Matariki. Great to be given the resources , planning and support - fantastic for a busy teacher

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? I think I have already said. Its been excellent at children reaching beyond the norms and relating to others they would not normally spend time with and appreciate.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has built a cohesion across the class because each child has had to spend time with every other child. There is more 'peace' and contentment to pair up with any child in a way that they would not have before.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Not terribly relevant, as we did this after the covid effects. But maybe its has been an excellent reset. No real comparison to truly know.

It opens a discussion for the language children need to express what respect and and disrespect is for them and to see it is common kinds of behaviour that produce these feelings. Recognising and noticing people's feelings and the story about THE QUESTION
Resources were fantastic, and engaging. Straight away it generated a buzz around our goals, and my class were excited about swapping stickers and charging our class battery.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? My class now has no problem working with randomly selected teams or pairs. They also notice and include others feeling left out at play.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? One of the areas how school has identified as being impacted by covid has been students social skills and self control. This kit helped me work on these skills.

A great kit to use in my Y1-2 classroom to support students extending their circle of friends in a respectful way. The children throughly enjoyed the 'playluch project', playing with new people each day.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? They were made aware of interacting with a range of people, not just their best friends.
Some nice resources in the kit but many impractical for my year group as they aren't able to read the instructions themselves - e.g. the dice. My learners love the battery and I wrote their names on the magnet spots so they could move it throughout the day to show how they're feeling - this has opened up some interesting conversations about how emotions change. I wasn't a fan of the poem or song - it wasn't easy to sing along to. The sticker book was a big hit but quite time consuming to set up but has started to get them playing with other children.
