How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Their focus has changed and they look for what they can do. They especially connected with the 'class battery' and they would think about other peoples batteries when they were feeling sad/angry and consider how they could help to fill the battery.

Students have become more aware of how their actions affect a relationship and how focusing on kindness and looking out for/noticing others feelings is important to building respectful relationships.
Another brilliant School Kit resource! The Classroom Base Station ("Our Recharging Mat") was a definite favourite! Thank you so much to all involved.

The poem was a positive extension and affirmation of what makes them happy, this was referred to often to deepen the importance. Loved having the story dice and if we weren't doing BSLA really intensely we would be using these more often. The Playlunc

Some children will still opt for behaviour that may not be prosocial, but a chunk of children have learnt how they can approach other children in a prosocial way by asking other children to play with them, asking if someone is OK, giving others compliment

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? When a child has done something kind or respectful during class time, other students see this and call out "John is being respectful because he helped Maddy tidy her table"or "Danny told me I look good today, is that respectful?"

The Playlunch project was great as the children knew that in order to make a rainbow of stickers, they needed to do a kind/respectful thing for another person. They understood that b
My students really enjoyed the kit, especially the lunch play project. As a junior teacher, it was a bit difficult to implement a lot of the kit because the children are not quite independent yet. The kit unearthed a lot of misunderstandings about relationships and friendships, which was very needed so we could begin to unpack what a respectful relationship looks like as a class.

Our class really loved this kit and supported several students who were struggling with relationships really well. They especially enjoyed the play lunch project and the battery charger station!

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Yes they have. Tim's story helped highlight how our actions can positively impact others.
The School Kit has been a fantastic tool for our tamariki to use in the classroom to create new connections and friendships with different members of our team during a variety of different learning activities - due to covid minimising our 'whole class' learning opportunities, we are still in the process of working through the complete kit. We began though with the buddy dots and for each whole class (45-48children), my co-teacher and I would run different Inquiry and Circle Time based sessions for which the children needed to buddy up with someone different each time (exchanging a coloured dot from their booklets was a great way to keep track of this and motivate the children to move away from their usual buddy choices. We will continue to use this tool and look forward to investigating and implementing the rest of the kit as and when we are able to do so.
