Lovely class to start with and no big issues with positive relationships but reinforced how we can read others body language and help them feel better - boost them. Many children away at times so they had to play/work with children not necessarily their best friend - this encouraged them to use their social skills and tolerance for children different to themselves.

Games and activities fun but easily convey the messages. Didn't use all the components but easily see how can use these as a refresher later in the year. Continually useful as the class changes.

“This kit is a great resource and had clear guide lines on how to teach but still gave wiggle room to change to suit the class. You can still use the resources even though we have finished - it will be good to revisit especially with new students coming in :) Writing a programe to change the story was the must successful part of the kit. It created great discussions and I had groups work on each others programmes and they had to provide feedback/feedforward to the creators of the programmes. It was great how the kit could cross over and integrate in all curriculum areas. It generated effective ideas for writing.”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? this is still work in progress and I am going to use the components of this kit next term too. The recharge battery and mat was great. it involved everyone in working together to be successful.

“This has been the best kit I have had. It has been perfect for establishing relationships in the classroom after a disruptive first term. We have been doing the activities and watching the videos in our Circle Times. My class have loved the challenge of playing with everyone in the class and swapping stickers. They will seek out those they haven't played with yet and are aware of students who have no one to play with. These students are now fully engaged with their classmates both in and out of the classroom. Thank you so much.”

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has positively influenced our classroom community by encouraging new relationships and new awareness of others' feelings.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Very relevant. I teach Year 2 learners, and they started this year with very little school experience. We have done a lot of 're-learning' how to learn and play with others. The kit has been a great support for building those skills.

“The kit was lovely and worked well as a visual resource within my classroom. There were parts of the kits (the dice) that were not useful as my class is younger so it was not geared at their level. The story was relatable but a little too long for my students to hear it all in just one sitting. Overall everyone in room 6 really enjoyed this kit!”

“The kit was very useful and very flexible. We had focused on the concept Hauora and the pillars of Hauora this term and it was very easy to incorporate the kit to our concept. My year 1 kids enjoyed using them and working on their booklets making tem more aware of their role as keepers of harmonious relationships in the room and in the school.”
