The battery charger was popular, the big picture created great conversations, mindfulness and breathing videos were watched and we liked the breathe in for hold for 3 and breathe out for 3..This
The resources were varied and some were very good - especially the videos and animations which can be hard to find yourself. The song was extremely difficult, which was disappointing as we would have been very keen to teach the children a Samoan song. The Kit provided a good starting point for our own planning utilising some of the material.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We have been fortunate not to be too affected by Covid this term, but it has helped in instances when students know that another has been isolating in how they handle it when that student comes back.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? It really helped by putting it into a context that they understand/ real world examples for the children.
We really enjoyed this KIT! We liked the poster with the batteries as it helped us to see how people were feeling and created a lot of discussion about why the children were having a low battery and what we could have done to help them if we were in the playground near them.

We have been in and out of the classroom this year but luckily there has been an opportunity for a core group of students to develop the skills, then pass them on to those who were absent

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The 'battery' was so successful. Students loved seeing the battery full up with noticed kind acts. The discussion on what a compliment is, and how to give one was great.
This kit was pitched well age wise and could be adapted easily to fit various junior or middle school age groups. The activities and resources were engaging for my class, they especially liked the class battery that we would 'charge up' with positive acts or acts of kindness each day. Having this kit helped me to focus in on respectful relationships and using that language in our circle times as well. To have an underlying theme alongside our topic teaching worked well.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has been a positive influence in bringing how we feel to the forefront of our everyday classroom learning. The class battery is great to show how we are going as a class on each particular day.

We have not been hit with tamariki being away as much as the rest of the country but worries and concerns with them are pretty high at the moment. This kit has helped us recognise this and understanding that that is ok and how we can support each other.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The story and the story dice were a great success in understanding other peoples feelings and unpacking them.
Honestly this school kit was amazing! My kids loved it, and was perfect timing for my class exploring what a good friend is, and how to become friends etc. The highlight was definitely the sticker exchange! It became part of our after lunch routine, and the children took great ownership of this.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Worked alongside our inquiry on relationships. We are using the Mitey programme for overall well-being and mental health.
We have been focussing on charging our class battery with compliments and using it as part of our Circle Time. Children had trouble getting the idea of not what someone looks like and genine compliments. I intend to use the playlunch Project next term.

My class loved this unit. It helped build a good bond between classmates. We are one big family and they look out for each other.

I've really enjoyed implementing this kit as it supports a lot of what we do already in the classroom and school environment. It has been particularly useful for new students in the class.
