How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We've had half our regular numbers so its been a nice way for smaller groups of children to get to know each other.

“I did not have enough time to implement all the elements, but those I did implement worked really well. My favourite was the playlunch projects as it was a catalyst for new relationships.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It is a constant and ongoing thing developing prosocial behaviours. My class are year 1 and 2 and they easily can tell you what is accepted but putting it into action can sometimes be a little difficult.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Opened this minds to having more than one or two relationships. Gave confidence to interact with others.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? well with prolonged absences of children it meant that others were able to be inclusive if a bestie was away and someone needed a friend.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? interacting with different children at break times was really helpful in getting children to understand it's okay to play with different people, and it gave them skills on welcoming new people into the class and helped build their empathy towards this

“This is by far one of our favourite kits to implement and teach. It aligns really nicely with the KC's and also for developing their dispositions. It fits so well with our school rule 'We look after each other'”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The kit has given us many different chances to practice skills like sharing, talking about our emotions and what to do so we can be ready to learn. We are learning that everyone is different and that's ok.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? We have devloped a shared language. I feel my students have increased their awareness of others and this helps for us to be a 'team', all working together to be happy and safe at school.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? When we've had students away for long periods of time, we have been able to redo some of the activities and this has given students a chance to 'lead'.

The kit provided lots of different ways (stories, questions dice, activities etc) for my students to be able to explore relationships, making connections to their own experiences and to build skills to have positive interactoins with their classmates.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Lots of links to PB4L school values. Students are showing respect for each others ideas which is creating a great learning environment.

“My class were not as engaged in this kit as they have been in previous school kits. They initially enjoyed exchanging stickers, however tired of this quickly. They also found it difficult to differentiate between some of the sticker colours. Charging the class battery was a good exercise, however again it was something that the children tired of quite quickly. I appreciated the range of resources in the kit, particularly around teaching emotions. However, I found that this kit was not particularly successful with the group of children in my class.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The kit worked well along side the Zones work that is school wide. It was great to see that children made nore connections between prosocial behaviours and people wanting to play with them and be their friends.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? This resource has had a huge impact on the feel of a TEAM in my class.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? After returning to school soon after covid lockdowns plus Christmas holidays, it was just the thing to bring something positive (collecting stickers) for being brave and asking a new person to play with them.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? They have learnt to establish first contact with a new person they hadn't played with before. They understand that people have a 'battery' that can be charged.

“The kit was a great way to reflect on relationships and ensure that children were able to understand others who weren't their natural friends. This helps the class function better and feel more comfortable working with others.”
