How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Playlunch Project was probably the biggest influence. Students started working on their own projects and then collaborated with others as they found ideas that were the same. This required a new level of respect as they learned to share ideas, collaborate

Lots of students coming together into a new class hub for the first time meant learning how to form (or re-form) new friendships.

This kit helped to build a classroom culture that was built around positive social interactions. My students loved the Charging Station and Playlunch Project components of the Respectful Relationship Kit. It was a great having class activities for the start of the year that explored how respectful relationships look, sound and feel like. The kit gave students the confidence to share how they were feeling and the ability to explain what they needed to feel safe and supported.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? In a massive way! I introduced circle time at the end of each day. We would reflect on different aspects or simply go around the circle and say something kind about someone else.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Hugely, it allowed for discussions and teaching around what it looks like, sounds like and feels like.
The Pack is an awesome resource whcih we will continue to use throughout the year. We have enjoyed working through some of the activities and still have some to do due to COVID arounf week 5 taking its toll on our class and school. It's been expecially hard with students coming and going to complete activities but those we have mananged to do - have just been awesome. I will continue to use these resources with classes of the future.

They have become true bucket fillers and understand that being kind is an expectation in our classroom and something we expect all of the time rather than being something we are striving towards.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Relationship skills are low due to bubble teaching and low attendance. Teaching relationship building is vital but now more than ever this is new learning for many.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The students particularly loved the friendship challenge which stretched and widened their respectful friendship circles.
It was very exciting when my kit arrived. It was full of lots of interesting items and I could see that you would be able to just 'pick up and run' with the lessons as all the hard work had been done for you. We had to delay starting our sessions as we had lots of children away with covid. When we introduced the topic the children were very excited and they took to the new concepts (charging batteries etc) very quickly. They have loved doing this unit and we will definitely be looking for other school kits to do. Thanks so much for providing us with such rich learning activities!

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? A lot of the children will gravitate towards those who they have buddied up with outside of learning time and in the playground etc. because they feel comfortable doing so.

Respectful relationships are always important, but especially during covid times. The ways we have been able to use the dots and booklets in the kit have been a great addition to our class.

We have always encouraged a supportive and respectful learning environment in our space and this kit gave the children the opportunity to put into practice the skills we have been unpacking with new and less familiar faces.
A great resource, especially in term 1. It complemented and enhanced what I would normally be focused on at the start of year. It was good to be able to pick and choose and it worked well with running Social Circles.

Respectful Relationships is a great kit for the start of the year and even at the start of every term if you have new students starting. I loved the brightness of the kit and the resources were relevant to the topics. my class especially enjoyed the short videos and the activity on emotions and body language.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The battery was a huge hit. The visual representation was a key aspect. They really understood which was a positive behaviour and which was a negative behaviour.
The children and I have really enjoyed using this kit. Using the whare tapa wha model and watching the movie clips and exploring our own feelings and of others have all helped our class culture in a very positive way. The year two children in my class are very motivated by using our class battery each day and get a huge boost when they can see we have worked as a team to fill it to the top. They also really love the play lunch project. Some of their comments when I asked were... "It's fun and it's making everyone play with new people.""I'm making new friends and learning more about my classmates" "The class battery makes lots of kids be good so we can try and fill it up (doing hard work to learn more)." "The story mat makes me think how others are feeling or if they might be sad." The children are very interested in asking a new or less family classmate to play and we built a repertoire of things they could do together or questions to ask each other. Having their in play lunch project booklet and stickers made them feel very responsible! We have had a very busy term so have not fully utilized all the activities and plan to use the story mat, dice and eird cards ore after the break where children might craft their own stories in a school setting that illustrate thought about the feelings of others . Also love the lists of relevant books to explore that reinforce these ideas.
