How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? There were times when tamariki had been away for longer periods of time and the tools they had learnt through the kit enabled other tamariki to notice when others were feeling a bit unsure and seek them out to feel included.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Akonga not only developed understanding of what a respectful relationship will look like and feel like but also learnt strategies for how to grow these positive relationships.

“The components of the kit were very well made. The idea of children rolling the story dice was a great one. The Topic this term was very well matched with Covid and coming back to school in Term 1. It was difficult for me to set up a proper station for the kit, due to changing rooms, but the table I had, generated lots of interest. I have taken a few photos, which I cant seem to upload on this review. If I was going to be picky, I would say the story was perhaps a little too long and hard at times for my New Entrants to comprehend fully. But overall, it was good kit that had some really good talking points. Would definately recommend to others.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Providing clear examples of what prosocial behaviours are was extremely useful for both the students, using kid speak and for me as the teacher not having to reinvent the wheel. Thank you for providing such awesome resources.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? All of the students feel that they can be paired with anyone else in the class and they already have a good working relationship. It means they don't always rush to work with a specific friend.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? This cohort is particularly suffering from 2.5 years of covid disrupted learning. For some of our year 3s this was their first full term at school without distance learning.

Right from their entry to Red Beach we teach about our R.I.C.H Heart values and this kit and especially the poster gave some great relevant examples that we could discuss and put in context.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? This has been fantastic to use while classes have been joint together or even in our own class. Sadly Covid has meant we have not used everything in the box yet but we will be.

Along side our school values and anti-bulling unit students understand what it is a have a respectful relationship. We have also spoken about bucket filling and bucket dipping which could be something to add to the kit.

“This kit has been invaluable in providing opportunities for students to recognise and talk about their feelings and create opportunities for practising social skills post lockdown! Our learners LOVED the Playlunch Project and this also provided another opportunity for play ideas with our play space being smaller than normal due to COVID restrictions. Highly, highly recommend.”

“Overall a very easy kit to use and can be incorporated into our class routines in a variety of ways. Kids especially enjoyed our Play lunch project! “This topic fitted in well for our Term 1 class set up. The battery was successful for our Year 1's to see visually the kind acts we were doing. Discussing what a compliment was, how to give one, then implementing a compliment circle was powerful. It was not easy at the start for most of our students, but with more practice they got there in the end.”

Every day we tried to 'charge' the battery by sticking on magnets when I overheard the children speaking kindly and positively with one another, or giving someone else a compliment.
