In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I assumed a big issue may be opening or seeing inappropriate content accidentally online. However, a much bigger issue was in fact sharing this with others as well as giving out personal details to online 'friends' while playing an online game.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I have always been honest with my students and we do often have frank discussions- this kit is only slightly different to the old 'keeping ourselves safe' unit.

How comfortable were you in approaching the more mature topics in this kit?

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Their honesty. Many didn't see anything wrong with their online behaviour. They also seemed to relatepersonally to many of the situations presented, saying ";yes,that did happen"; before discussing options with their friends.

“The kit was easy to follow (from the teacher point of view) with quality resources that were super easy to use. The scenario cards were simply set out and easy to choose the relevant 'topics' for each lesson. The voting system was a brilliant addition that the students loved and were comfortable using. I would certainly recommend this kit as it highlighted issues that needed exploration and discussion.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I thought the students would be unaware of a lot of the out of line card scenarios but it was really interesting how many students had heard of things going wrong online.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit We made sure everyone knew that we don't talk about things that are for adults or have a R rating (games etc) first. It was a little nerve wracking not knowing what the kids would ask or share but everyone was really sensible about it.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Some students were shocked that other's disagreed with them when they thought certain scenarios were out of line.

“The students were really engaged with the out of line questions and loved voting. It made for some great discussions about what you could do instead of what the character did.”

“This kit is high quality, well thought-out and very useful for teaching safe behaviours. It has some interesting, innovative approaches that keep the children engaged.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I thought they might be at home using platforms for communication that we do not use at school but not many Year 5s had access. If they did they knew the rules around their usage and correct behaviours.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit as I was teaching year 5's I only went as far as what I felt they were comfortable, my class is very sheltered and I didnt have anyone really push scenarios or ask about mature content.

For most students they had a real sense of justice around the questions, and were a definite yes or no to the questions. Some said secretly they might have wanted to do it but still would not do it.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? My students worked very well together on this kit. Students who do not usually collaborate found common ground on which to share ideas and co-create.

“Overall I enjoyed using this kit. It helped push me into dealing with issues I may not have. The students really took to the games and enjoyed working collaboratively. The YouTube videos really helped some of my groups better understand expectations and success criteria.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? n/a

“Due to too many balls in the air that I juggle as a teacher and COVID I did not get to complete this. This was disappointing as the resource was awesome when I looked over it. I have on-passed this to the head of health at our school to integrate into next years lessons around Cyber Safety. I apologise for this as I know a lot of work goes into these from your end. We as teachers do value them.”

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I was quite blown away by the percentages around exposure to porn.....in hindsight, I shouldn't have been....I enjoy challenging the students with this type of learning and they enjoy being challenged.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The students are hungry for direction inthe area of social media and norms...

“I put my feedback on the School Kit Facebook page.....my students really enjoyed the voice and the connection between what they allow face to face compared to face to online.... It was able to be ùsed by my students to help another student in another class who made a silly online decision.... the conversation I heard about the recognition of how the student must be feeling - using the emotion cards and then looking at options the student could use.....true learning and tangible use of the learning to inform others.... The use of the pd clips was valuable also....it opened up discussion for our senior team around porn exposure and gave clarity around where the students are at. The students really bought into Korn's theory and another of discussion around specific examples brought up the understanding of Korn's philospohy”
