What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? They were really focused and engaged (whereas they tend to struggle with long discussions otherwise).

“The activities in this kit were fantastic for drawing parallels between the online world and the offline world. This definitely made the appropriate/inappropriate behaviour more explicit and tangible for students to discuss and use.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? No changes of Teacher Perception as earlier in the year we had completed a small unit on cyber safety. However, it cemented my students learning on this subject.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Not judging others mistakes. How honest the students were, and how they made comments about their older siblings ie how concerned they were for them.

“Awesome kit. It made my students think outside the square about cyber safety, different apps on their phones and things they have written online. It opened a lot of conversations.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? It was surprising to find that some children who I thought would be safe in the digital world weren't making the best decisions about their safety, showed me that I sometimes assume they know things that they don't.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How open and willing they were to talk about it in front of their peers. I guess when they all realised they weren't the only ones in a certain situation they felt more comfortable in doing so.

“The kit was a change for me and my class in that we hadn't used any other kit previously which opened up a conversation with the students which was as relevant to them as this one. It also created some good discussion between myself and a colleague, who I got the downloaded resources from, as to the differences, stories and similarities bewteen our classes.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The marble was a good activity but because of some immature behaviour from a few students it disrupted their thinking and some of my quieter students shut down. I would like for them to do this activity again without some of the disruptive students.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Some good discussions were very interesting. I was surprised by the level of content some students bought up.

“For the most part the kit was excellent. The information on Facebook was very helpful. However, I have a year 7 &; 8 class and they found for the most part interesting. Although, the year 8s found it a little boring and were quite immature. I found it difficult to keep them engaged and to be considerate of other people's views and opinions. Thankfully, we have circle time to check in and connect in the mornings to support those who were being disruptive. I think implementing this resource would be better suited for earlier in the year.”
