Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I actually assumed the worst but no one appeared to have gotten into too many dangerous situations. The main issue was online fights between friends or other school members.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I didn't actually teach the really intense topics. We touched on it lightly which was fine, and have left the students knowing they will have my help and support if they ever need it.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How quiet they were! The sharing was harder than I thought to begin with. Using the cards allowed them to discuss without implicating themselves in anything.
This was a challenging but brilliant kit. My class were very quiet (yr7-9) when it came to discussing their online behaviours. I think they were concerned they might be judged. No one admitted to getting into difficult sites or situations. However, the situation cards did bring on some good discussions regarding online and offline behaviour. Making the distinction between the two was a good conversation enjoyed by all. The game with the emotions was enjoyed by all and resulted in some heated debates.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was fairly spot on with my assumptions - I have some very mature Y8s and very young Y7s. So I think the variety of resources and scenarios engaged everybody at some level. The marbles were great and very interesting!

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit My initial response was uh oh I'm going to have to talk about pornography specifically. But the resource helped support the tricky topics without having to go into too much detail. Students were able to discuss things and reflect on things at their own

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? No so much surprised but they found it interesting how the same situations can evoke different feelings in different people. The idea that people respond differently - don't assume everyone thinks the same as you.
Some great ideas and resources for covering safer digital behaviours. Loved the marbles for getting everyone involved and thinking. The boundary sheets were great hands on activities as were the scenario cards. Promoted lots of discussion. I would definitely use again, but would like more actual follow up activities for the students to ";do"; and to engage them more.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? There was a much larger group than I expected who appear to have no limits or restrictions when online at home. The Ring of Gyges activity made it clear to me that many of the children felt it was ok to behave as if no one could see when online. This wa

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Following the John Parson's sessions, which are very up front and honest, I guess the kit seemed to naturally flow as a next step. Some discussion was difficult in that I know some children felt a level of guilt about access that they have to games or c

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? There were some disclosures of online behaviours that I had no idea about. Someone who had an account hacked and posts made that were derogatory to friends. Some who had been on the receiving end of language and comments that I would not have expected fro
This kit was an excellent follow on for us from some year group sessions with John Parsons. There were many discussions where children were able to relate content and ideas to both learning experiences. The content was relevant to the year level. The use of offline and online activities was an excellent way to make comparisons about expectations and behaviours. It gave us something to come back to regularly. An excellent kit - I plan to reuse some of the components.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Have taught this level for 30 years so very comfortable. I try not to bring any prejudices or personal views into it too often. Students seemed comfortable also and they seem very aware of how to stay safe.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The way they became involved in the small group discussions and were able to feed back openly and more honestly than expected. I was pleased that they also felt able to discuss some of the issues at home with their parents/guardians.
A useful unit on keeping safe. Would have preferred to have done the unit last term or earlier this term but this year has been particularly busy curriculum wise. I planned each lesson for consecutive days and kept it to 35-45 minutes maximum.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The varying degrees of what they are allowed and not allowed to do online while at home.
This kit has been super valuable for my class of year 5 and 6 students. I found it really beneficial, especially the discussion that resulted around the majority of the activities. The content was relatable and suitable for the kids and they were comfortable sharing their ideas and thoughts (great for this time of year when they all know each other so well). The voting system was a highlight and they were always eager to see the results with the marble system. I would definitely be keen to run this unit again with another group of students.
