In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? My initial perception was that they would struggle with dodgy people online however they mostly struggled with online nastiness within our class.

“This was a great tool to generate discussion around some pretty intense scenarios. The tamariki loved the sessions especially those that created a really open dialogue.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I learnt that my class is pretty savvy in their safety around the computer and knowing what to do if they are feeling unsafe, what they are posting needs to align with their values offline.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit At the start getting the students to think about their online and offline behaviours really helped to get them thinking that what they accept offline needs to align with what they accept online. It was a really good starting point.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Students were willing to open up about issues or times when they had been uncomfortable and feel like they weren't being judged

“Students were engaged in thinking about how they way they behave online and offline and how they need to align. We extended the study looking at our digital footprint and cyberbullying. Student enjoyed discussing the different scenarios and what they would do if they were in the situation, it was a good starting point to get other discussion/issues started and how we might deal with these.”
