Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I found it eye opening what students had experienced online. I think I was quite naive as to what my students did/ did not know and what they had/ had not experienced. I was also surprised how keen they were to talk about difficult topics.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit When I first received the kit, I thought, what have I gotten myself in to?! But as I broke the topic down, realised that my kids were keen to talk about and look through all of the useful things that were given in the kit, that anxiety was relieved and I

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was surprised just how much they wanted to talk about this topic and how many experiences they had. They were all very empathetic towards each other and what they had experienced.
Students really enjoyed the variety of tasks and relevant scenarios. Started really engaging conversations that parents also were keen to get involved with! Loved the range of sharing strategies e.g. the black and white marble voting - a system that we have applied to other areas of our learning as well!

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I found it quite confronting how many of the students had been exposed to problematic content online.... I was aware of the statistics, of course, but so many of my kids hadn't mentioned anything about the things they see online that I just didn't realise

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit As a class, we have already approached a few sensitive subjects this term due to other things happening throughout the year, so we have been fortunate enough to have a safe and respectful classroom environment

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? No as we had already had some issues arise that were disturbing which is why I wanted to do the kit.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit As we had had to discuss some of this already due to a 'safe site' being hacked and sending an email to a student, we had discussed how to deal with and talk about uncomfortable issues as a staff.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Their openess to discuss things they had faced online.
A very useful kit in making students aware of issues that have and could develop when using online technologies. It is very well resourced and supported and right on theme for what is happening to our young people today. Though there were some uncomfortable situations shared it was positive to see how the students knew what was okay and what was not and the best way to handle any issues that came up.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I always thought that digital safety on apps/games should be taught by parents but many don't talk to their parents or even realise a bad or dangerous situation. So now I believe it is important for teachers to teach the subject and have those conversatio

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I didn't use the porn type questions as I was not comfortable talking about this topic and I felt that most of my students will only be more intrigued if I brought up the topic and I didn't want to put myself in that position. I feel that is a parent conv

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The things that they were seeing online and how they acted when faced with those situations were shocking to me.
The kit was a great tool for some in depth discussions around digital safety and encouraged the students to speak out about situations they experience online. It also helped them to have a safe person who they could talk to about things they experience online that they are unsure about. They really enjoyed the scenario cards and choosing the feeling and actions that they should do if they were in that situation. Students are starting to be online more and more so the invisible ring activity was also a really good discussion that they identified well with.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? They didn't change drastically as we had already had a lot of robust conversations around safety from our 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' unit.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit As above, after our Keeping Ourselves Safe unit, it was a nice transition. Students maturity was really shown and this continued with some of the more difficult topics to address.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Some on their online boundaries at home were surprising. Some have no restrictions or privacy settings and we discussed this a lot.
We used this resource after we finished our Keeping Ourselves Safe unit from the NZ police. It was a perfect transition unit and provided great discussion depth.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The marble activity gave us less insights than the decisions chart - that one sparked a lot of great conversations about what is appropriate in different situations and how that can be different for each person.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Many of my students have been exposed to inappropriate material or conversations online. They do not associate that as being a problem with the app/programme they are using, but just a part of life. This worried us as we realised that they were not making
This was a really well thought out kit and my students loved the different activities in it. It sparked a lot of conversations amongst the students about appropriate behaviours and really grew their awareness of the similarities and differences between online/offline.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The 'good' or 'quiet' students were on these apps
Great kit - but hard to start (as in the beginning activities weren't captivating for the students) we had done the keeping ourselves safe unit the term before.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? They didn't change though was surprised at how naive some of the students were and then the other end of how 'worldly' some were. Also the amount of students who have been bullied on line was alarming. Programme showed its worth when I had a student las

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How open they were to discussions - how it was a relief for some of them to be able to talk about it How straight away one student said - what you say online should be the same as if you would offline but unfortunately it isn't at times.
The kit was well thought out - I chose along with my colleague the cards we felt were applicable to my students.
