What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was really surprised at how open my students were when discussing the scenarios. Some had very strong opinions and we had some powerful debates especially about the decision making process and choices.
This was an excellent kit to work through alongside our Navigating the Journey unit. The content was very topical and my students were eager to complete the activities. Definitely relevant for all of my students!

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Students understand online boundaries better than boundaries in real life situations. Students have mostly been in uncomfortable situations online.
I feel like these are not designed by teachers, the notes are quite hard to follow and it seems to jump all over the place. It is a shame as there are some really good resources and parts of this kit that are really useful.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Not really surprised- but frustrating that they're able to say all the 'right' things but don't apply them.
I'm really enjoying the complex discussions we're able to have with this kit. It links perfectly into lots of our curriculum that we're already teaching this term, which is fantastic! It has been difficult to follow the planning, finding it's not really broken down enough and it takes us (collaborative team) a while to get our head around it!

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit As said above, I have Year 4-6 students so I censored some of the more explicit content for them. However I was comfortable discussing this with them, as I felt it was of importance due to the high involvement of online activity.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The complete honesty and transparency of the students with the situations they have faced both online and offline.
An absolutely fantastic kit, was highly engaging for students. This kit allowed students the opportunity to critically think about the role they play both online and offline. I really enjoyed the scenario cards , they allowed for me to pick and choose what content was appropriate for my Year 4, 5 and 6. They also allowed me to target specific areas of concern with the students. The students enjoyed the opportunity to vote anonymously, allowing for honesty and reflection on their actions.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The analogy of getting 'lost' offline and online surprised a few of my students - that they wouldn't like getting lost in real life, yet they easily do it online.
A school kit that was appropriate and relatable for my Year 8 class. Lots of healthy discussion came out of the varied activities, and got the students really thinking hard.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was a bit ignorant to the fact that inappropriate stuff on line is just accepted as the norm to some students. So what we might feel uncomfortable about as parents or teachers, our children/students don't. It is highlighted in the TED talk we were recom

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I think it would've been beneficial to split my multi-levelled class into groups and then addressed different content. Some of my younger students were still very innocent in an online sense. Because of this I removed some of the ";that's out of line card

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was surprised how normal it was for my students to talk to strangers/pretend to be someone else in an online sense and yet horrified at the offline suggestion of meeting up with someone they didn't know.
The timing of this kit couldn't have been better. My students are beginning to make chat groups with others in their class and some of the ";that's out of line"; cards addressed topical situations and made students think about how they might feel in those situations. It was really important that the ";that's out of line"; cards were sorted through first to remove any that might be inappropriate for some students to hear. This is a resource that I will be able to refer back to regularly next year. The decision maker sheet instigated some really insightful korero amongst students.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? They had more knowledge than i was expecting and also I was shocked at what they had been exposed to online as 9, 10 and 11 year olds. We had some in depth discussions.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? What students are exposed to online and I am pleased we have school control over this.
Having younger students year 4-6, i made slight alterations to the kit and we discussed areas that i felt were relevant to them at the time. Good discussions re online bullying and what happens when ads pop up that are inappropriate and what we can do about it.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I assumed the majority of my class would not have had an uncomfortable situation online. I was wrong. Very wrong. I forget that these kids are connected on their games, they are already on social media and they are very exposed to potentially uncomfortabl

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit It was pretty confronting and initially, i was very reluctant to talk about some of them. However, as we went on it became very clear that it needed to be talked about. These kids need to know what to do when these situations happen and that it's not okay

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The amount of socialising the kids in my class do with people they don't even know. I was surprised how okay they were with not knowing the people they talked with. It was interesting to see how openly most of them talked about their experiences of nasty
This teaching resource was absolutely fantastic. It followed on perfectly from our Life Ed visit that looked at online and offline reputations. It was easy to follow and the resources were well developed to go over some of those big and uncomfortable issues that we face in the online world. The other teachers in my team saw what we were doing in class and have downloaded the online kit so they can work on it too.
