Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The "Charging Station" activity struck a deep chord with my class. Students enjoyed creating their personalized stations and appreciated the metaphor of recharging their emotional batteries. This activity helped them visualize resilience as a dynamic, ongoing process, which many of them referenced in subsequent discussions. It also encouraged students to think critically about the activities, people, and habits that contribute positively to their well-being.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The lasting legacy of the Self Confidence Kit will be the awareness and tools it has given students to manage their personal resilience. They now have a shared vocabulary to discuss emotions, stress, and support systems, which will serve them beyond the classroom. The daily check-in practice is something many students have expressed a desire to continue, even outside of school. Additionally, the emphasis on recognising and respecting individual differences in resilience will likely shape how they approach relationships in the future.

“The Self Confidence Kit excels in its practical, adaptable, and relevant activities. The "Charging Station" provided a creative, hands-on way for students to explore personal resilience, fostering collaboration and reflection. Daily check-ins became a routine, promoting emotional awareness and a supportive classroom culture. Its alignment with Health & Physical Education and English made it versatile, with links to reflective writing and discussions. How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? It hasn't. For the 'continuum' type questions before and after this, I don't know how to move the 'bar' or fill in the single space that I want to - it keeps selecting at least 3 spaces

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Unfortunately none - as we didn't do enough of the kit to make a difference.

“We really struggled to fit this kit in with our learning this year. I made the mistake of ordering 2 kits in one term, so requested an extension for this one. It then didn't tie in with our schoolwide 'topic'. This, alongside the Government's mandate for 10 hours of literacy and 5 hours of numeracy, resulted in us just beginning the first task and completing no more. It didn't help that many students were away with illness when we began, so I had to keep going over what we were doing. If it ties in with our topics next year, I'd like to give this kit another go.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? This class is a very empathetic, kind class, this year, but this kit did reinforce their behaviours and ways of dealing with people. It helped promote the ideas of accepting people as they are and not judging them as we do not know what things they were taught or not taught, when they were young.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We are who we are from the people who have come before us and that passing on these gifts to their children is important. We cannot change who we are on the outside but we can control and change who we are on the inside.

“It was a great topic maybe at the start of the year might be a better time to introduce this great kit. Finding out how we may have become the way we are because of the people who have gone before us was interesting for the students and they became more interested in their own personal history.”
