How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? I cant say if it was just the kit that helped, or the combination of work we do. For some it lands well, but not for all.

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? Yes - worked in well with our PB4L and just needed some minor tweaks to suit our school values.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We always encourage positive talk within the class and it was nice to hear some of this transfer into the p-layground

“Would be a great kit do do at the beginning of the year to help include whanau with learning. Also it could be carried on for the rest of the year as a positive reinforcement with the children.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? We have worked very hard on speaking kindly, and this was one of the units I did to help encourage this.

“Lots of good learning included based around the parts of self esteem. Perhaps a little advanced for Year 4 - a few of the lessons were not applciable for this age group.”

“Was a great support for our puberty talks and opened up good communication about the world around them and how they see themselves. Lots of positive self talk and beliefs developed over the course of this school kit.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? I think using the kit has made students really think about the impact that words have on others and how they can be perceived even if there was no ill-intent. I have also noticed a shift in that they are more likely to compliment or give positive encouragement/praise to their peers more readily without my prompting.

“This term we had the self esteem kit and work a lot of the role models and important people and lessons learnt. The students loved the motivation to connect with their special people and treasure their letters. They made connections of the lessons passed down from their grandparents to themselves and how those became family values.”

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Hopefully how to notice which influences in their lives are positive or negative

“My classroom had a rocky start to the year. The level of disrespect shown towards the class, their peers, and myself was concerning, and much of this behaviour was heavily influenced by factors outside of school. As a staff, alongside our RTLBs, we worked hard to address this within the classroom. When we began using the kit in Term 3, it required a lot of unpacking for my students, so we moved through it more slowly than intended. However, the impact was significant. My class gained a strong understanding of the influences in their lives, and I’m hopeful that moving forward, they will continue to recognise, seek out, and lean on their positive role models. Their confidence in themselves has grown in leaps and bounds too.”
