What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? the class I completed this with were not my full time class (I was CRT) - so the other teacher did some acitivities.

“This kit had an extensive array of activities to work through with my students. I loved the physical resources that came through. I also love how the kit came with pretty much all of the links and lesson plans to go with all the resources. The particular class that I was using this kit with, were a bit unmotivated, so I found it hard to get what i wanted to get out of them with this particular kit.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The best thing about it is that the students have dramatically 'downsized' their problems, instead of little things being a major problem.

“I love the Self Esteem kit. I have used it for many years and will continue to do so. It is a great prompt for starting conversations about emotions and feelings. It also gives really practical advice that is genuinely useful for the kids.”

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Students will know that not every day is going to be a good day for everyone. that there are people to ask for help and that sometimes, you are the peson who can make a difference.

“What a great kit for my Year 5 and 6 students. Addressing empathy, kindness and self confidence and alerting them to the effects of socialmedia. Perfect timing as most of my students get their first mobile phone as they move on to intermediate school.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? There has been little to no noticeable difference, they usually are very kind, supportive and considerate of each other.

Which response stood out most? We were surprised by the lack of pressure felt by students/adults to respond in a particular way based upon the way others spoke or commented.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They understand the power of positive self talk.

“This kit was quite intensive. The class that I have this year consistently has quite good esteem and although there were some aspects of the kit that were of use this may be because they had met this kit the previous year. It was very interesting (despite misplacing the stamp!) to see positive modelling by adults although there was clearly a lot of work for significant adults to do when it comes to teasing students about their appearance, or for lifting their levels of positive self talk in front of students.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The trusted adult letters. My class were so excited to open and read these. One child was absent on the day we did this and different students came up to me during the day to tell me I had to save his letter and give it to him on his return. They felt it was very very important.

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? I think this remains a work in progress but they have really developed the language, the vocabulary they have for communicating.

Which response stood out most? That children this young (Year 4) are really thinking about how they compare to others. They weren't always aware of the negative way they are being influenced.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? I hope that the legacy is the letter they have, a physical artefact to lift them up when they are down.

“The components of this kit were amazing. The students really enjoyed the circles of influence and the visual display this created. The parents loved the idea of the check-in tokens as a way for their child to communicate how they were. A great around kit. LOVED IT!”
