How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? Some students found modifying the car to be easy and they had planned to do so from the beginning. They would test it and realised it wouldn't work and came back to the drawing board. Other students just built the car as per the instructions and didn't modify it at all due to not being 100% sure.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The learning done in the kit allowed them to have a better understanding on what they did with their car affected how well their car would run. It allowed some to think really carefully as to how they would modify their car to win the speed race in particular.
What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? The students enjoyed the unit as a whole. Plenty of them got frustrated or had problems during the building process but tried their best. They enjoyed getting the opportunity to race the cars against each other for speed and distance.
Since we were doing this in Term 4 we had a shortened time line. It also didn't help I was away for some of the term so a reliever was conducting some of the kit for me. However, overall it was fairly successful. The students had fun and they learnt alot. They learnt alot about themselves and their problem solving skills and learnt to try push themselves through the challenges they faced when building the car. The learning at the start of the kit helped set them up for success when building their car. I would be keen to do this kit again but make sure it was in a different term and I would want more time to set up the foundations to help them when it comes to the modifying and building. Since there were several sessions that I missed the students weren't necessarily set up for success.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? While none wanted to change the energy source they did trial and error to see if they could place it in various places. This added to the learning. Many tried to change the number of body parts on the car noting the force of drag.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? This has been the best learning ever! I want to know more about powered cars. What does the future of transport look like? - these are just a few comments we heard over and over.
What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? Feedback was ongoing especially if after instruction they still put the cog on and the car went backwards. This was the funniest part and where most of the learning came from.
Fun, challenging and most of all educational. What an amazing resource that kept our students engaged throughout. I would highly recommend this resource.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The children loved it. Parents thought it was a great project
What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? The children absolutely loved it.
What an exciting engaging resource. Everyone loved taking part in this. It was also a fun unit to work through with the children, prompting many interesting discussions and conversations. The only down side was I was supposed to be sent 3 kits-as I was teaching it to a whole syndicate on a rotation basis-but I only received one, and no response when requesting more. This meant the children ended up in much bigger groups which wasn’t ideal.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? Students thought carefully about the weight of the bolts and how it was distributed, experimenting to make their cars go faster. They really enjoyed the trial-and-error aspect, trying different ideas, testing them, and adjusting their designs. This hands-on problem-solving made the activity engaging and helped them understand how small changes can affect performance.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? It was a hit with the younger siblings as students got to take them home at the end.
What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? Positive hands on learning was a hit.
Our year 9 and 10 science classes both got to make Solar Cars at the end of their Physics units. The kit has everything you need, and the instructions are clear. Making, decorating and racing the cars is brilliant fun.

What kind of feedback did you receive from students regarding the overall unit, and how did it influence their learning experience? We had students opt into completing this workshop once they had heard about the kit and what was involved.
This kit was an amazing addition to our end of year workshops with year 9 - 11 students. They covered the concepts of energy transformation in class, then the kits were used to extend and reinforce their understanding. Students loved the ability to apply their learning in a hands on way.

My CRT reliever was able to use the kit during her sessions. She said it really worked well and she enjoyed hearing the students using the language. The only part she struggled with was some of the construction building. Not all students were able to get past the part where it had to place the wheel on. Howevr, they did enjoy being able to place it outside and let the sun drive the car around.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Lots of positive feedback about how much the children enjoyed the unit.
The kids loved making the solar cars. The instructions were easy to follow and they really enjoyed decorating the wooden frame. We had a couple of problems with the motors not working but all in all a great unit.
