What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Only a few of the students were from my own class. I received no feedback from parents but a little feedback from my students that were present.
“The animal choices were engaging for the students and the story was familiar. Some students definitely didn't click on that the problem was in the story at first, but as they began to solve bits and pieces, they realised. Several students were able to work on the problem at once due to the variety of methods of information retrieval. Some tasks were to locate data and transfer direct information given, some tasks were to use equipment to discover data. I had around 6 students working on one animal task at a time and there were only a couple of times there was someone idol for any given time. I was doing a careers day at Intermediate on being a vetinarian so it was perfect for me as a ready to go tool. There were parts that i laminated first as I was using the resource three times. Thumbs up from me!”

The Story Vets kit really brought out the students' excitement and passion for animals as they jumped into their roles as "junior vets." They eagerly took on each step—listening for heartbeats, checking temperatures, and examining x-rays—feeling like real professionals in the vet industry. This hands-on experience let them explore their love for animals while practicing real vet skills, sparking enthusiasm and giving them a taste of what it’s like to work in a field they’re passionate about.

How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? THIS DID HELP CHILDREN TO UNDERSTAND BECAUSE OF THE CLUES, INFORMATION ETC. IT WAS WELL THOUGHT OUT, I.E, THAT LEADS TO THAT. THE RESOURCE HAS BEEN CLEVERLY DESIGNED TO ENSURE SUCCESS.

“I AM IN A RURAL SETTING, MY LEARNERS THOROUGHLY ENJOYED STORY VETS BECAUSE OF THE VAST AMOUNT OF PRIOR KNOWLEDGE THEY HELD WATCHING THEIR FAMILIES ON FARM. THIS COMBINED WITH KIT CREATED AN AWESOME LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I ALSO LIKE THAT THERE IS SO MANY OTHER DIRECTIONS YOU CAN GO IN WITH THESE KITS. IT IS SUCH A GREAT CONTEXT.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? We did a review at the end and overall was good but the students felt we did it for too long. Some struggled doing the scratch task in the time we had so while some had great success, others needed more time to get their heads around it. While it did increase understanding of the standard tests, this could be missed next time and the kahoot would still cover this.
“Our year 7/8 class used the Story Vets as the basis for a unit covering most of term 3. We used it across most of the curriculum. Students wrote letters of application to our 'vet school', completed reading and comprehension activities, used the scratch for digi tech and created kahoots for sharing their learning, looked at social sciences aspects of vets as part of the service industry and their role in the community, as well as completing their case study and more. We loved the professional looking forms and the students enjoyed the 3D glasses. Great resources and links - made it very cool to teach too. Thanks heaps School Squad Kit, Anexa and other supporters.”
