Did this kit increase your students awareness of the skills needed to work in the vet industry? I added an element of comparing human doctors to vets. This created a very in depth discussion and considerations. Students thought about the skills needed (both academic and personal) to work in both industries.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Students liked the science elements and that there were multiple avenues - ie, science, maths, and digitial elements. At a year 8 level, some students did find the stories to young.
“This box had my students engaged, especially in the vocabulary they learnt. Elements were good. One piece of feedback relates to the QR codes - these required the teachers phone to be used to then send the links to students - making the posters not so relevenat and they took up a lot of space..”

“The tamariki enjoyed role playing as vets. They enjoyed using the props and being 'detectives' working out the problems. I used this with older learners and can also see how it can be used with younger tamariki. Using the kit motivated the learners to look further into other occuaptions that invovle animals.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? No feedback from parents but some tamariki enjoyed the kit and some found it was not for them.
“The compare and contrast between vet vs doctor was an eye opener for my tamariki. The fact that dentists only remove teeth not a dr was a shock to some, but to be expected I guess. We did run out of time as we had another kaupapa going on as well, but wished we had that time to go more in depth.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? We enjoyed working with the petri dishes and test tubes. It was fun reading the stories. It was like being a detective.

It made my students have to think about the information they had and make reasonable, informed choices. They developed their abiliity to justify decisions using the evidence they had.”
