“Our class loved the Blue Fish project! especially when one group got to spend the afternoon with the caretaker to put them down! It sparked some great discussion around our waterways and why it is so important to be caring for them!
Thanks SVA and School kit :D”
“My Year 1-2 class loved the SVA kit and volunteered their time at the local kindy. Got themselves into teams based on their strengths and skills and worked so well together in their teams. They also helped to provide an amazing morning tea. They loved being part of the process and now have a good understanding of what it means to be a volunteer and how they can help others, so thank you very much for the opportunity!”
“Room 5 loved the volunteer army kit. We had Operation Kindness which built for World Kindness Day on Nov 13th. Lots of actions and the children realised the roles they can play to organise things. Thank you School Kit!”
“A big thank you to School Kit. Room 6 at Sunnyhills School has a lot of fun and developed a range of skills working through the student volunteer army kit. My class decided that they would focus their efforts on the school toilets as they didn't like how unclean they were. We planned, cleaned, filmed and then created posters all to teach the whole school how to be responsible with the toilets. I was amazed to see how independent my students could be and they were highly motivated to do it all within the time constraints we had.”
“Room 19 Student Volunteer Army at Rātā Street School are gearing up for World Kindness Day on Wed 13th November. They are busy advertising the day at the moment and encouraging others everywhere to join in &; make the world a kinder place!”
“We have dived into this kit and looked at the different roles of the SVA. We have looked at some different projects that the Christchurch SVA have helped with and possible ideas we could do. We have just completed a donut graphic organiser to ideate different ideas within our school, outside our school and then outside our school in our community. We are currently planning our SVA project in its final stages and then hope for the day/activity to be completed by the end of week 8. Kids have absolutely loved this kit and it has sparked a smaller volunteering group within the school to initiate their own projects. Thanks for another awesome kit and we will upload photos when we are completed.”
“After having completed a SVA kit in 2018, I knew what I was in for and so knew what to expect and how to prepare for it. I was impressed with the new and thought out additions added to the kit such as the planning poster and personality sheet - the students loved filling these in. So, thank you for another amazing kit. My students get super excited when they see the School Kit box sitting on my desk and it's become quite an event in the classroom when we open it! Thank you to all the team who make these possible!!!”
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our SVA kit. We started off by researching what the SVA is all about. Then we all wrote ";job-applications"; for the roles we wanted to apply for (everyone loved the badges).
We then looked into project we could take on. We decided it should be an environmental project, since we've been learning a lot about our local environment this year and eventually decided that our scooter-track area could do with a re-vamp, as some of the plants have died or been damaged and there are a lot of weeds now growing in their place.
We still have some work to do on the scooter track area itself, but we've already had a practise run by doing some planting at the local community nursery which we could send you some photos from if you like.”
