“We ran a whole school SVA, where the students from all ages were mixed up in 8 different groups. Children each applied for roles within the group and then carried out a project about Making a Difference! My group visited a rest home, and prepared gifts to take and a performance for the residents. It was a wonderful morning and the children felt amazing after providing such a nice morning for the residents. We are going to visit them again in a few weeks. Thank you school kit for such awesome resources!! IMG_2738.jpeg”
“Room 11, from Napier Central school, had a fantastic time planning how we could give back to our community. The children came up with cleaning up our beach, which was fantastic as we had been doing an Inquiry on being waste aware. The kit helped us immensely ; with badges to give us all important jobs to do, with high viz vests for our Platoon leaders and lots of ideas for really good discussions. The children loved it, they felt really proud to be able to help our community, plus save our sea lifer from eating rubbish. Thanks so much for the opportunity.”
“Our class used the SVA kit to educate others about the impact of plastic waste in our school and why we need to have healthier lunch options. After having a 'clean up our school' afternoon, where we collected and sorted all of our school rubbish, we then created apps and websites designed to educate and inform other students.”
“The Tui team is currently planning acts of service that can be carried out as part of Advent. Students are excited to help people in our local community. With the help of the resources in the kit, students are able to take more ownership over their service. Highly recommend this kit!”
“We had a blast with this kit, it challenged the way in which we can help out in our community in small ways.
We went around the school picking up rubbish and then set a homework challenge for students to clean up their streets.
Students were thrilled to find this small amount of time given can make a huge difference in the community in which they live. Tino pai School Kit another fabulous and engaging resource.”
“We really enjoyed this kit and made it a challenge to do a clean in an area of the school. The students think more about their community and how they can help do service with the elderly to helping with community groups. We definitely would like to continue doing a kit each. We did a rubbish collection along our beachline and then did a walk back through the bbq and parking areas. The students couldn't understand how people could be so thoughtless with the disposing of their rubbish and especially their bottles. It has made them realise that people really need to think of how they will dispose of their packaging and other products they buy.”
“On Wednesday November 20 we completed our S.V.A community project. The weather was windy and cold but we headed out along the beach. It was surprising how much rubbish we managed to pick up in just a 30 minute walk in one direction. The students all participated and completed the various roles. Our story tellers are going to put a slide show together and share our experience at assembly in a couple of weeks. We will share some of our photos.”
“I really enjoyed how engaged the tamariki were and how easy the resources were to use. They worked so well with our beautification of our school environment. Thank you”
