Hi team Some of our teams have not yet completed their projects but they are all planned. One team spent an afternoon delivering cookies to the fire station and the police station which was really appreciated. I will share the photos when I have a few more.

We contributed to Caritas who then is able to help with Emergencies around the Pasific Islands and in this case helping raise money for the recent typhoon experienced in the Phillipines. This has also impacted some of our own filipino school community in

The activities were all useful in finding out , applying and producing with an outcome that was meaningful to students. We use a localised curriculum and this aligned with making a difference in the world as well as our special character as a catholic school in actioning social justice.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Usually the school kits are so great to integrate into the classroom but I've found this quite tricky from a teacher point of view - sorry to say! I sincerely love what you do and really appreciate receiving your kits!! This one was not successful with my

Hi, I am very sorry to say that I have not been able to do this kit with my class. A couple of times I have tried to introduce the kit but I think the children I teach are too young. I have 19 children and 12 are Year 0s, many of whom are unable to write independently, without teacher support. When I have looked up the SVA website it seems its aimed at children much older. We have talked about what. volunteer is and different organisations where volunteers can work. I have opened the kit but not used to its full potential.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? The students demonstrated Manaakitanga by thinking of others. It has made them appreciate what they have and be respectful of the backstories of other people's lives. The groups we have targeted are yet to receive the projects yet but I would imagine ther

This kit has tied in beautifully with our school-wide inquiry into making a 'Change For Good'. The students spent the first three weeks immersed in learning around the SVA and how it came about. They brainstormed and researched ideas and then settled on their own projects. After having camp last week, they are now in full swing preparing their projects to be completed by Week 8. We have birdhouses being made for local wildlife areas, woollen hats being knitted for the NICU unit, fundraisers for different charities, Te Reo videos being made to teach our students simple tikanga and te reo phrases, and rocks with positive phrases on them being made to hide around the school. The students have loved this kit, and the resources really supported the learning.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? The children chose a Greenspace project mainly based on some of the areas around the school. It was very hard even from the start to choose and commit to one idea. I did give the students quite a lot of support and through different contacts at our sch

Kia ora! This was the first time our class and I have ever completed a School Kit. The children really enjoyed the kit and the structures were fun to use. The different roles, video and planning process gave them insight in how organisation of people worked. Some of the key learnings was inclusiveness and how everyone needed to have a part. Thinking ahead without assuming that adults would magically make resources appear was also quite a learning curve too. In all the children are more aware of the effort that is required in caring for our environment and how to do it.

The premise behind the kit was great, but unfortunately we failed miserably getting our event off the ground due to high absences after the lockdown and never really getting into the flow of being able to plan / execute it.
