I am happy to tell you that our class finally got to compete their SVA project yesterday - It has been a long process with covid and weather but we finally got to go and do a beach clean up at a local beach. The kids worked with another class to come up with this project and they spent a lot of time planning. We were worried as we had floods 2 days before we set out but it ended up being a wonderful day. It has got out class thinking about other projects they can do and they have made connections with our local water catchment groups and councils.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Learners from our class are still working with and alongside the community that they have made a connection with. Our learners have been inspired to make a morning tea for emergency services for all that they did during lockdown.

This kit inspired our kids to go out into the community to help others with their learning. We had groups supporting teachers and students from 'Fairhaven School'.

A fabulous kit and students loved that they could volunteer and give back to the community which gave them and their families a lot of help during both covid lockdowns. They enjoyed wearing their bracelets. It fitted in well with the school focus on maanakitanga and students are now able to understand the role being a volunteer plays within their community and importance of working together to fulfill a goal.

Our class really enjoyed as it was our first time using the SVA kit. Our student's volunteered to clean, dig and plant vegetables in our school. When ready these plants will be gifted and shared with to people in the community of need in the Mangere area. Thankyou again for our SVA kit.
