Our initial goal was to create a pack with face masks, kai and recipes that were easy to follow. Our target was our local school community. We learnt how to sew masks, using a sewing machine. We collected donations from various organisation which required a lot of letters or email writing and communicating with adults, the team and our teachers. With a second lockdown we became limited with what we could do and the school put out the kai packs in the last week of term for our whanau in the holidays. We are still working on supporting our garden to table [GTT] team with paper bag lunches for the 400+ students in our school when we have Run, Jump, Throw. This is going to assist our GTT to plan how they will accomplish this moving forward in 2021.

We ended up doing this kit as a team as it tied in well with our overall inquiry. The kids loved discussing ways they could make an impact on our community and the different ideas they came up with were awesome. Collectively they settled on a community clean up and have been planning and organising this in their groups. We are executing our clean up next week and cant wait to see what the kids think of their efforts. We plan on creating art and a display with our collected rubbish to show just how much there is and the damage it can cause to our community and environment

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We are in the final stages of completing our project and will hope to see the impact of our bug hotels in our school environment, then we are looking at extending these further into our local community green spaces, all going well next year.

Thank you for this amazing kit. I really appreciated the detailed information and the resources that enabled my students to take action, make decisions and to develop these important life long skills to be agents of change.

The children had a great time thinking of how they could help others in need. It was challenging finding a suitable project that we could do in school time. The children created posters that they were proud of. We continue to collect phones and hope to double our donation.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Our focus was helping to support HUHA (Helping You Help Animals) which has a branch local to our school. In hindsight I think we tried to do too much in a short space of time. If I were to do it again I think lots of prior communication with our targeted

I really enjoyed the resources in this kit! I hadn't done a School Kit before and I would definitely plan to use them again in the future. Because of the impact of covid lockdowns etc. I don't feel like I personally used this kit as well as I could have but know I know a bit more about it I think I could put it to better use in the future. It worked very well with our inquiry unit on citizenship and I think many of the kids were very interested in learning about the SVA and all that they do.

We were year 1 so we didn't go out to do a volunteering project but we took part in Art project for the school using recycled materials, The class had to plan, design and carry out the project as a group. WE made kiwi bird using recycled filing paper and bottle tops. We learned about sustainability and the importance of recycling, reusing and reducing waste.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Last time we undertook our SVA project we made Boomerang Bags, something that we introduced to our community. We persuaded our local Countdown and most local shops to reduce the number of plastic bags they were giving out.

I used this kit very successfully a couple of years ago so wanted to do this again this year. Originally my class signed up to support the Riding for the Disabled Gingerbread Horse appeal. We have done this before and it was a great way for my 5x Y7/8 classes to work together to support a very worthwhile cause. With the second lockdown happening we did not hear back from the charity. I think that restrictions regarding cooking in large groups for sale meant we could not do this. Unfortunately we were restricted by having to create costumes, props and scenery for our production, as well as squashing everything else in to what little time we have left this year. The SVA kit has been put on the back burner. I do wish to do this next year and will endeavour to make this happen. Doesn't help that I do not have my own class... the reason why I wanted a project that 135 students could take part in,
